We spent the week in Pensacola at the beach. It's beautiful there.

Last night we went to Moth Night at a nature sanctuary. We saw lots of cool moths, fireflies, cicadas, and handsome spiders. I could have done without a volunteer telling me that copperheads like to eat cicadas and that the snakes were "probably all over the place'. O.o #NationalMothWeek #moth

The squirrels have been eating my gerbera daisy blooms but somehow this one slipped through.

In the middle of thick green leaves a daisy bloom is open. The bloom is shades of yellow and orange, with orange around the tops, fading to yellow in the center. The eye of the flower is black with a dark orange ring.

You just know there is a squirrel nearby licking its little lips.

I finished my run this morning, sat down to untie my shoes and saw this. I know it wasn't there when I started. Where did I pick it up? Dunno. How long was it there? Also dunno. You'd think I'd have noticed at some point, but nope! #running

I went for a walk today along a favorite path and it looks like some new folks have moved in.

At the base of a tree in a knot that once had a tree root is an oval wooden decorated door, probably 3" high. A sign on the door says "Welcome". Two small gnomes stand to either side with red pointy hats and big white beards.

In a hole in a tree trunk is a small home, like something a fairy would live in. It has a round door with a sign saying "Welcome" above it.

I'm working with a new pattern for hand/arm warmers. How it looks is very dependent on the light angle. Naturally, this photo uses the best angle. I had to frog my first three tries. I tend to have tight stitches and this pattern absolutely does not work with tight stitches. #crochet

The keen-eyed may have noticed I always use a rubber ducky as my avatar. This tradition dates back to when I first joined the bird site many years ago and wanted something fun. I had one (one!) rubber ducky in my house. That is no longer the case. Here are some of my favorites. 1/?

A rubber ducky made into a Christmas tree. It's duck shaped, but green with dark red garland and yellow balls decorating it. There is a gold star on its head and a red present wrapped with yellow ribbon and a yellow bow to its side.

I visited my little neighbor to wish her a happy 8th birthday. She got a skip ball and was trying to figure it out. I grew up on skip ball and jump rope (double dutch anyone?) so I asked if I could try. I'm happy to report the old gal's still got it.
