I never really got over Game 7 last year, and I'm not certain I ever will. So I spent pretty much the entire 2026 season with an emotional hangover, and I'm worried that my love of the game and this team is now permanently diminished. We'll see what the offseason and spring training bring, I guess.

All true, and the pitchers will help. But collectively, they threw 8 1/3 innings in the majors this year, and none is proven. The bigger issue for me is the offence. Vlad and Barger should be a lot better, Kaz a bit better, but this is likely peak Kirk and Bateman. The rest of the offence: Yikes.

I hope so. But SS/2B/LF posted about an 80 OPS+ in 1500 PA this year; that’s a huge hole to fill. RF is fine if 2025 Barger returns; if not, not. At DH, Santander is a lottery ticket at this point. Assuming Bateman’s for real, they can count on four above-average batters. And cross fingers on Vlad.

It really has been one of the least enjoyable, more frustrating Blue Jays seasons I can remember. What concerns me is there’s little prospect of offseason help. The FA market is ugly, and the farm, while improving, doesn’t have difference-makers coming next year.

This is basically a white flag, as it should be. Arrighetti was a project from the moment he arrived, and only stayed in the majors this long because of the late run. But I don’t like reinstating Yesavage; I’d shut him down and protect that arm as much as possible.
