@giammei.bsky.social

LISTEN no one talks about this enough but the weird little monkey part of our brain really needs us to sit around in small groups, with no particular end goal or plan in mind, and just talk Like a fundamental need for us to be healthy

Trends are always opportunities. The *trend* of anticipatory obedience to unconstitutional, anti-intellectual commands from the White House is an *opportunity* for higher education institutions to show their integrity and differentiate themselves in the conflict of ideologies.

Waking up in this place reminds me that beauty may indeed save us, in the end. It's remarkable how scholars of the Renaissance (the good ones at least) were invariably antifascists

Bluesky academics, let’s get to know each other — quote this & tell me: 1) a project you are working on & 2) an odd idea you aren’t working on but keep thinking about 1. Shakespeare's ghost manifests manuscript in Italian to fascist mediums in 1926 2. Orlando Furioso and Star Wars are the same

trump is unique in that his depravity creates the very cynicism he feeds on. it is necessary to uphold the idea that we are capable of better even if that belief is counterfactual. which is why we need to tell the bureaucracy that their work is valued and that they are holding the line for us.
