I recall it so well. To do some gesture that allowed us to channel our thoughts together and gather at a certain hour to meditate a bit. With no wrong way to do so, and to *be* together communally more than anything. I built my silly little altar, lit a candle, and remembered the man.

I saw this picture of this accursed stair, and it triggered war flashbacks. 60% of the stairs in historical Italian buildings are like this, and I say this as someone who worked as paramedic and had to carry people around on emergency chairs and stretchers. ...yeah.

Instead of effortless wish-fullfilment & showing classmates how foolish they are for not thinking the edgy protagonist is cool, our isekai used to be about growing up, facing fears, bonding, and helping princesses commit suicide by magic knight. We truly fell from grace.

I'm making my MC skeleton knight a shameless horse girl (just look at the names she gives to her horses), but I feel it gives her humanity and I have no regrets.

As it befitted her role, the knight had ridden other horses in the past. Strider had been her first, lost to a volley of arrows that almost claimed Astraea’s life as well. Swiftlight, her second steed, had accompanied her to the very end and fallen on the same battlefield Astraea did — even if she had to keep fighting without even the chance to mourn it.

Moonswhisper was different, an undead steed Astraea had met and earned the trust of well after her death. The bond they had been forged with dark magic, between two accursed beings. As long as Astraea endured, so would Moonwhisper: its loss something she’d never need to face. Nightmare and death knight, forever together."

Doll nun is here. A miracle later she's already better.

"Behind the bars, held above ground by two chains that kept her arms spread, there was Kassiah. She wore the monastic vestments as always. The tight black scapular covered the white tunic beneath well enough in her upper body, letting loose at the height of the legs alone. Said scapular ended in a cut beneath Kassiah’s neck, whereas a black elongated veil and a white coif wrapped around the Gravebound’s head repeated the pattern.

The same happened on her arms, with long black leather gloves covering the tunic’s arms — or at least they did so in ideal conditions. Right now, one of the gloves had been removed and the tunic torn. Kassiah’s left arm showed all its junctures and sections, alongside evident signs of damage.

No part showed better what the broken doll had endured than her visage, though. One side of her stark white porcelain face had been shattered, showing the skeleton within. The organic component of her artificial frame, a common lynchpin for necromantic arts to infuse a soul into a new body. A wisp of ivory hair escaped the coif, descending alongside her skeletal cheek."
