i'm late to the halloween avatar thing but i'll do it

i did feel very immature going "hehehe" and taking these screenshots of a fantasy book i recently read, but i also refuse to believe any contemporary author who writes this is not also going "hehehe" deep down

Three children ran past, shrieking, startling the old man's ass,

"Good day to ye, lad." He and his ass moved into the street.

The farmwife, though, was most pleased about the ass,

i like pumpkin pie just fine, but every year we keep pretending it's as good as sweet potato pie and something's gotta give eventually

i haven't been advertising soulsov much lately because, well, if you haven't read chapter 3 by now, you may as well wait until 4 is out. but you have to promise me you'll read it then. promise. promise. promise. right now. say it

it's meant to be a portmanteau of the english words "my" and "mythology." apparently it was supposed to mean "the study of self-discovery." i've never played this game in my life.

the other day i dutifully pronounced "Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology" as intended by the developers and made my colleague think i didn't know how to pronounce the word "mythology." yet another reason bandai namco owes me reparations

maybe it did deserve a spot on my influential game chart. maybe panel de pon did have some part in shaping who i am. but then i'd have to remove something else to leave room for lester the unlikely two times

state of other things: instead of fire emblem, i played panel de pon and felt something akin to spiritual healing

loic: this one's quite tricky to explain, but to put it broadly me: in english, four-eyes loic, hearing "in mosaian, four-eyes" through whatever interdimensional translation magic is allowing us to communicate:

[i see a flower i don't recognize] i wish loic were here so he could tell me what flower this is, and call it something made-up because the real one is named after some german botanist from the 1700s, and explain its fayimic nuances at length, and not help me at all because none of that shit is real

read soulsov and experience this emotion

(Anonymous asked:)
With all of my deepest love and affection Ch. 3 made me want to hit Ysme with a car. This is because she's the best character ever invented. Thank you for the meal

(I answered:)
that's awesome probably

i played it at a very impressionable time in my life.

020

gg @ggdg.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

persona 4 wasn't up for consideration because it didn't stick with me like that. i'd maybe add mgs2 if i had to pick a most impactful "hiimdaisy game."

030

gg @ggdg.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

i also considered undertale, but the impact of that game on my life is perhaps a little unique in a way that didn't seem to fit here. which leaves lester

i guess earthbound could have one of these slots. the truth is that i've never played it myself, only watched my sibling play as a kid. i was deeply afraid of it but found it compelling, and it definitely impacted my sensibilities as an artist

panel de pon is one of my favorite games, but i wouldn't really say it shaped me. lester, on the other hand

170

gg @ggdg.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

i'd never played picross until like 4 years ago. if i had to pick an influential puzzle game it'd be panel de pon

140

gg @ggdg.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

i tried to do one of these but i couldn't come up with nine influential games without double-dipping from the same series, which i didn't feel good about

if you're going to hook me with a bloodthirsty revenge story, at least let me revel in the righteous violence for a little bit before you start moralizing. you can't just have a side character wringing their hands dig-two-gravesedly from the very first kill. come on
