Have you tried the completely redesigned Sonaur web app? The original web prototype did its job. It proved the concept and generated listener feedback that guided the design of the iOS app. But sitting next to what Sonaur had become on iOS, it felt like a form. Now live at www.sonaur.app

Rebuilt & launched @sonaur.app from scratch. The old UI was a prototype and looked like one. This one gets out of the way. The visualization responds to live weather data. Also works as a web app — save to your home screen, no App Store needed Before/after 👇

There is a multicolored wave made from individual lines across the back of the image representing sound waves. In the foreground is the Sonaur iOS app on an iPhone. It shows Health Mode with a zone reading "Deep Calm" and 63 BPM. It's playing the Golden Ratio palette. In the upper right, there is an Apple Watch that is also showing the Sonaur companion app with the same zone and heart rate.

On Monday, I was inspired by an interview I heard with Brian Eno where he mentioned wind chimes. I thought... what if I could build something that uses data sources to create random, ambient music? I started brainstorming #buildinpublic

“Let's say you've got five chimes. Each one is a particular pitch. It's not going to change.

It's only that pitch. But how and when they strike depends on the wind. So it's sort of semi-random.

So you can't really say that you composed that particular performance. Though you can say that I built the system from which that performance emanated. You know, a wind chime is basically a simple piece of generative music.”

Interesting from a few perspectives: 1. The ability to write code isn’t required to produce an effective prototype 2. This is another sign of the convergence and consolidation of software product team roles due to AI tools 3. Are prototyping skills an indicator of a successful product manager?
