Adorable "note" on my door last week. They used the classroom next door all summer. Spent one afternoon with them doing hand washing activities including making agar hand prints. They would stop by my office to say hi. They were occasionally loud but I loved the energy!

Had a great time at the #MissouriStateFair. Introduced the microbial world with #Foldscopes, #AgarArt and #Bactograph display, and cellfies! Gave away about 100 #Foldscopes Did sunscreen experiment and made bracelets with UV sensitive beads Thanks to these great students for helping out!

The Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis has a spectacular collection of water lilies. Apparently, many of the varieties they display are a hybrid developed at Longwood! I read a cool story about discovering how the lilies are pollinated by native beetles. Heading to MoBot this weekend!

The plague comes to Raymondville! Another opportunity to dig out the #PlagueDoctor costume and take a group of middle school students on a journey during the time of the plague. Yes, ASM's international membership is so important. As long as we can distinguish "our" ASM from others we're OK. I have collaborated most of my career with materials engineers and they have ASM International which was American Society for Metals until the 80s. It has worked and our ASM will work.
