I'd say being genuinely YOU within interconnected communities where you can explore you or oneself, doubt, and questions freely is probably that version of US society would hate to see... Imagine that ? Now that's whimsical whimsy ! Organised Chaos (or Imagination). It was always about communism !

Because, do you genuinely NEED to buy all that stuff to finally live your [insert originally cool buzzword from social media] life against all odds ? I sincerely doubt that. And you should too. Doubt me even, that's a start !

It's good to start somewhere tho definitely. Unfortunately most good ideas originally by genuine individuals, people, groups, ultimately turn into a new DLC of ways to be capitalist and overconsuming, codifying groups and separate us, as soon as it gets big. Take what's needed, question the rest !

All that while not being able to sit with your own boredomness. It's all about bringing your imagination to life in a way or another, and following rules or ways of doing it bc some random person did this on the internet and without using it as a way to nurture your own. Is... to be questionned.

"Omg I'm in such a cozy place being so whimsy rn." Ma'am you're having a drink at your local Starbucks right before a trip to Ikea. Like Sir, this is a Wendy's There is nothing "whimsy" about this except the impulse of overconsuption. Also WHIMSICAL. Not whimsy.

Simiel @gerbatbatrav.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

NOTHING wrong with the former. I think you do whatever you can to not feel like this world is aflame and society tries to put us all minorities and lower classes against each other to prevent us from seeing the higher ones destroy the world. But that is NAWT what whimsy means whatsoever.

Like any word found out by tiktok it has been grossly boiled down and misinterpreted to a slop word that means "walking on your own with your overconsumistic outfit and pinkwashed bag" or something and not "Larping in a forest and singing outloud and not caring about even birds judging you for that"

Who needs "whimsy" when you are genuinely being more your most weird, cringe and autistic self ?

Why be delulu for 3D men when you can be head and heels for a fictional character ? No need to be perfect cuz I just know he's the Right one for me! He doesn't exists ? Well I like my men that wayy so it just adds to the many reasons I love him 😚😌🖐🏾 (Caring, Sweet, Strong like a rock, Tism etc..)

The Bureaucrats celebrated their unexpected day off

Ink drawing of a comet in the style of Tove Jansson. Two creatures sit watching as it plummets towards earth. They clink glasses and seem content with their fate.

Knight and fever dream /answer to a question about Wreg's scar.. [ #art | #oc | #knight ]

medieval manuscrip inspired drawing of an 'angelic' being. Their neck is pierced by eight swords, making a halo around their head. They are dreddes in plare armour and red wings that drape over like dress. They are holding two swords in their arms as well. They are literally two, the one above looking up and uninterested, and the one below looking staright ahead and slightly smiling. Behind the angels is more realistic Wreg, standing covered in blood and looking at the angel. There are two scrolls with text: "What happened?" and "Matters not. Thou shall be killed nontheless."

all the pieces I've draw of my knight Kauno⚔️ [ #oc | #art | #knight ]

digital painting of knight oc Kauno. He's standing naked knee deep in water and covering himself with his hand crossed over his chest. The hand played with some of his long locks and reveals a healed scar in his neck. At his feet sinking into the water is a late medieval armour, slumping over him with dead weight. Kauno has places his right hand to hold the armor at the same spot (neck) he has his scar. All around them are seven common terns flying and diving into the water, splashing the otherwise calm water.

digital painting of two knights: Wreg (left) and Kauno (right). Wreg is unclothed and wearing a meadow flowercrown, as is custom for various midsummer spells in nordic countries. He's holding Kauno, who is in full plate armour. They are smiling tenderly at each other, and Kauno caresses Wreg's cheek. They are hiding from the setting sun in forest, which can be seen glimpses of in the background.

digital painting of burly knight oc Wreg being kissed by angel Kauno. Kauno is flying towards him, and is fully armored and holding a red banner. Wreg on the other hand is facing his back at the viewer and is very much naked and gripping the banner.

crop and longer lore breakdown for those interested in Kauno💙

zoomed version of the image quoted. bottom half of the piece is out of scene, leaving diving terns and water out.

Now, bear in mind that I’m struggling to put into the words many of the concepts discussed here. So sorry in advance if some parts feel nonsensical...! And as a disclaimer: my knowledge is mainly acquired as an interest and hobby – it does not hold water as actual, completely accurate information of a historical period. It’s my interpretation, my fantasy of sorts.

First things first, song inspiration: Vilma Jää – Manalan mailla (if you know Finnish and like to read these, you might see the connection lol)

Kauno’s story in nutshell: Kauno is a nobleman knight, who suffered a mortal wound to his neck when he was pinned in combat and stabbed between his armour plates. By all logic he should’ve succumbed to such a wound, but he was rescued and nursed back to health. The nuns who took care of him did not have high hopes for the feverish nobleman to make it through, and yet eventually he woke up in perfect health and spirit. Kauno remembers little of the time from sickbed but has clear memory of vivid dreams of birds…

Visually Kauno’s pose is heavy nod towards Botticelli’s painting ‘Birth of Venus’. I’ve always associated this piece with rebirth and beauty, both which are at the heart of Kauno’s character. His name quite literally means ‘beauty’ and rest we’ll get to…!

So now, the most complex part is to acknowledge the co-existence of Christianity and folk religion in Finland during Middle ages. While it’s hard to point out how folk religion exactly died (I’m not read enough on the topic), there are still letters to be found from church officials pointing out that some of the folk religion or the traditions persisted even till late medieval period and to renaissance. This period of time where beliefs melded and changed is something I’m extremely interested to depict.

Now, religion facts: There are quite a few nods towards Christianity here, the number seven motif with the birds, rebirth etc. However, the story revolves even further to folk religion’s concept of lintukoto (birds’ home). It was believed to be a physical place just outside the edge of the world, where birds went during winter. Everything was small in lintukoto to accommodate birds and sometimes souls could wander there. Notable is that lintukoto is _not_ heaven/afterlife in folk religion, but rather it seems one might get lost there by accident?

Terns: I thought terns are great way of marrying both religious imageries together. They dive almost completely into the water and rise anew, signifying Kauno’s almost rebirth-like experience. There also rather many hymns describing angels and dead loved ones visiting earth as birds! And lastly, they are also bird that are more typically seen in southern Finland, as a reference towards lintukoto being to the south of the world’s edge.

Armour: Yep, that’s Kauno himself! Kauno is showing his neck, which has only the scar left from the combat, but he’s also gripping at the sinking armour at the same spot.

Fun fact: Kauno is literally shorter and slimmer ('smaller') than my other knights as a nod to lintukoto! So, is he an angel, rebirthed man, or just very lucky guy? Who can say for sure, but all these motifs are part of him.

Sleepless Knight (2024) [ #art | #oc ]

older digital painting of knight oc Wreg on balcony during summer night. He's shirtless and leaning onto the balcony railing, looking away from the viewer. There are two light pink flower petals left on the balcony railing, close to Wreg's hand - he has likely ripped them, or someone left in a hurry. Wreg also has a red sash tied to the right side of his belt.

Friendly fire on @silverpeel.bsky.social 's Amynta [ #art | #artfight ]

digital painting of an angelic being. They have soft features, long greenish blonde hair in braids and bright red eyes. They look calm and tinge of sorrowful with one tear rolling on their cheek. They are wearing a late medieval cuirass and pauldrons. Their hands are clasped in prayer, and instead of rosary they have a pale snake tied around their hands.
