Thrilled to officially share the news that Mayo Dark Sky Park at Wild Nephin National Park is the proud recipient of International Dark Sky Place of the Year award. It means a great deal considering there are now over 200 dark sky places around the world! We wish everyone a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Wouldn’t it be nice if this major supplier had just one dark sky friendly porch light in stock, considering its proximity to a dark sky park. Just one ☝️ #missingatrick @darkskyireland.bsky.social @mayodarkskies.bsky.social

Display of outdoor lighting in major DIY shop. Most of which cause unnecessary light pollution. No sign of dark sky friendly lighting.

Brilliant news. It was such a tragedy to read of the fire destroying such a wonderful new facility - having visited Galloway DSP several times, I can’t wait to get back and see the new observatory in future! Congratulations!
