The idea that remakes/remasters are restoration is maybe the worst argument for them. I think it's the most dangerous, as it tries to intellectualise a profoundly corporate practice. It is also just entirely wrong, and I'd like to explain why.

Maybe it's because I don't like the game so I've blocked it out or whatever, but it feels like RE9 has had no staying power. I feel like I heard the past modern RE games talked about for way longer post release, where after the initial excitement and praise for 9 it just kinda left.

I may make an RE9 video. I initially said that I wouldn't for a couple of reasons, one being that I don't like making videos about single things but secondly I do not want to make more negative videos. However, I just really strongly dislike this game and I think I gotta tell people why or I'll die.

There's a lot to complain about with modern triple a games, but the thing that really bothers me is the file sizes. They feels so incredibly unnecessary half the time. Every game is 100gb now I guess sure.

Every time I have shared a sentiment like this I always get responses like 'Video games are a very unique medium'! As to justify why replacing games is fine, because they're not like books or movies! Which I always find ironic, because most remakes, remasters and 'fixes' make games more generic.

The problem with video game remakes has never been, and never will be the changes that they make. It is ultimately that they claim to be the original game. I will never, ever understand the desire for a 'faithful' remake, the most faithful rendition is itself. Just play that.

My least favourite type of media discourse is the idea that the things you like must agree with you. I am reminded of the whole 'conservatives have no media literacy' and that they 'love media that hates them' thing, but especially with video games, this just isn't the case.

DLSS 5 being universally made fun of is going to be such a short lived thing. The second that it stops distorting faces we're going to see people embrace it and it is going to suck. This was inevitable, DLSS 5 is the logical conclusion of the general ideology on game visuals.

It is fascinating to watch Zelda become a kind of boring series. I think since Breath of The Wild we've been seeing it become more of a standard blockbuster video game series in a way that was easier to ignore at the time. With Tears of The Kingdom and especially OOTR, we're almost fully there now.

YouTube sponsors are always in this moral grey area for me, where I really want creators to be able to live, which they can’t on YouTube ads alone, but also it’s literally just scamming your audience and exploiting that parasocial trust, that’s the business model. It’s all scams.

I really, really hope it will grow on me but I'm still of the opinion that Danganronpa 2x2 is simply just kinda ugly. In general I've found that this art style has been on a gradual decline since the second game and this really puts into view how much it has changed over the years, for the worse.

I think someone should tell triple a that it is okay to have contrast in your image, it's better even! I'm somewhat of a realism defender in games, at least on a conceptual level, but recent 'realistic' games have had just terrible contrast, really bad values in the picture.
