It also upset Mary Whitehouse very much, which was a bonus for every filmmaker. I remain of the opinion that The Devils was a missed opportunity for Russell. A new re-write of a script should have been undertaken and some creative collaborators replaced.

People will be asking why was it cut in the first place. I believe it actually detracts from the film and makes it look like Ken went into the 60s by filming semi naked girls dressed in habits and abusing the crucifix. Oh come on! These kind of scenes were trademarks of cinema of the 60s and 70s.

I am 100% sure it will be a hit. I read an interview with Kermode about the discovery and restoration of the controversial scene. Perhaps then it would have been arguable and shocking. But now,we see so many horrifying scenes which are far more disturbing than that of the restored sequence.

Trump showed himself to be pathologically dumb. President Zelensky should never ever trust Trump and US. Ukraine has to rely on its self and allies in Europe. Europe has to start rearming itself rather faster than it had hoped.

Seen the The Devils three times in various stages of my life. Recently at Bologna. On last viewing I came to the conclusion that The Devils are complete mess. Russell fallen into a psychedelic trap while he was making this film. Story itself was interesting but result was disappointing.

Yes indeed I remember that film clearly. The Boyfriend is famous for Twiggy being blamed for ruining Russell’s career. Some time ago my wife and I met Twiggy. We talked about all sorts of things but didn’t dared to ask her anything about The Boyfriend.

That’s why all the people currently responsible and behind so much corruption and cruelty, including Trump, have to face a some kind of a congressional tribunal and punishment. Pardons issued by Trump during his tenures have to be made invalid by Congress and Senate.

In my humble opinion US administration is going crazier and crazier. Why? Except Trump who long ago proved that he is totally mentally unstable why are his advisors so stupid as well. On paper they received best education money can buy but they act as if they had just primary education.

I don’t think Russia will attack Europe/Nato just yet.If they do it will be around 2030ish. But this will be under different group of rulers.That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t increase our defences.On the contrary, we need more military personnel as soon as possible, maybe even partial mobilisation.

He has been given year to year and half to win the war with Ukraine or a window from which he will be thrown out. That is why we’re seeing such a brutalisation of the war. He no longer cares how many soldiers are killed on battlefield or civilians killed in cities. He cares only to save his life.

As I am observing what is happening in Kiev and in conflict between Ukraine and Russia I believe that there has been a quite a big change in Moscow. Even if many observers and experts have not noticed it, Putin has been given a deadline for a resolution to this conflict.

No it wasn’t part of LFF. Saw the film, found it rather mediocre but I always do with Chabrol. Generally I can’t watch more than one Chabrol film a year. I must be hoping that I will find one of his films exciting. So far no such luck.

I have seen it in Bologna FF and before in the 70s. Then I thought it was wow, how original and Ken Russel was my director to follow. In Bologna FF I thought it was a total disaster/mess. Yet original story was genuinely interesting. But what Russell made was psychedelic mishmash.

I was invited to see a new film alone in whole Odeon Leicester Square. I had the whole auditorium to myself. It was me and projectionist. Fantastic! I have profusely thanked the PR people. Unfortunately I have never visited the projection room.

Many decades ago I was accorded a special privilege. In fact it was a sort of a Birthday present by a pr people for the film. At that time Odeon was always rehearsing newly released films so that they run properly for public screenings.
