My painter guy just called it “chat”, not ChatGPT. Is this a thing? Imagine how many companies would kill to have people talk about their product that way.

Google’s not even in the conversation when people talk about what models they’re using for coding. They have all the resources, how did they fumble this hard?

@toni.bsky.team probably time to declare a "code red" and get Bluesky Communities launched ASAP. I'm as blue-pilled and optimistic as it gets, and I deeply respect *everyone* I worked with on the team, but even I'm getting worried about how many chances remain. Feels too slow to win at this pace 🙁

I'm going to be launching something pretty big next week, which just happens to include a new atproto AppView, labeler, blob proxy, lexicons. It will have tens of thousands of users, most of whom won't even know they're using atproto, or have even heard of it.

Apple Reference Image: A New Approach for Verified Photography - Apple Security Research
Introducing Apple Reference Image, a new solution for verifiable photography on iPhone. This new, opt-in camera mode lets a photographer create a securely timestamped reference image that accurately depicts what was captured by the iPhone's camera sensor. Apple Reference Image offers a trustworthy, scalable guarantee that a reference image is what it claims to be: a real photograph, captured by a real sensor in an iPhone camera, at a specific period in time.

@gruber.foo perhaps wishful thinking, but I imagine the design of the Air will make its way into the standard lineup after the Air 2 has run its course. The Air and Duo feel like siblings in a new design which will work its way down. daringfireball.net/linked/2026/...

Remembering 9/11 On this solemn morning 25 years ago a team of us had arrived on a redeye flight in NYC for a Mac press tour. After the horrific attack we stood on the streets and cheered the first responders, paid our respects at the site (as close as allowed), and spent a week together in shock 😢

Corrected headline: "Waymo Saves Toddler's Life" I really hope Tesla's rolls out their robotaxis slowly and cautiously like Waymo. They will inevitably face these situations. One bad mistake could sink the entire AV industry. They are such a net good for society, we can’t jeopardize that.

they misconfigured a sandbox. The fact you can't understand that speaks more to your technical illiteracy than anything else.

* Readers added context

Unlike other incidents, the models in question did not escape their sandbox via misconfiguration but rather through cyber exploits, chaining multiple zero- day exploits to gain internet access. openai.com/index/hugging-...

I feel like we need a new "code gardener" role on the team. Someone whose full time job is to: - Understand the system - Understand the code - Understand ongoing projects - Review PRs quickly - Prevent rot from creeping in - Enforce opinions Then let the builders run wild with AI.

cloudflare access has been very useful for this era of small vibecoded tools we often have something that needs to be public facing but then we configure /admin/* to need google login it's part of our IaC setup so the agent can both create this ui and protect it

The Odyssey was fantastic, but I had a hard time emotionally attaching myself to specific moments because of the pacing. Some scenes felt more like montages, and could’ve used a little more breathing room.
