Three-dimensional structural evolution models of the study area, from the basement to the Pimienta Formation. Blocks show the interpreted geometry of Jurassic units Cahuasas, Huayacocotla, Tepexic, Tamán, Santiago, and Pimienta. The blocks show progression of changes in structural relief through time. The models show the basement-involved deformation (horsts, grabens, and major faults) that controls the geometry of the Lower and Middle Jurassic units. Structural features become progressively smoother and less pronounced towards the top of the Jurassic succession.
