I’d honestly rather have him than even Castillo. On talent he’s a top 15 pitcher in the league. Had some fluky bad luck in a few starts these last couple years. I think he’d certainly be worth parting with one of our treasured top 100 guys if that’s on the table.

I still think The Cubs will bring in a veteran boring-ish 3B so I wouldn’t expect a full full season of ABs. But we in the Windy City are pretty excited. I just hope it goes better than Jackson Holliday’s rookie year. I feel like they actually could wind up with similar profiles 🤞🏻🤞🏻

After the Tucker deal, it was reportedly down to Seattle (also cash strapped) and NYY. The Cubs may have painted themselves in a corner a bit but roughly $30M for a 750 OPS is probably a bit over market value. I’m sad to see him go but the bat will likely play better in that park.

What we are being told as Cubs fans is that they will spend up to about 230 M to start the season. They didn’t have room to add multiple bullpen pieces and potentially acquire someone like Luis Castillo or another SP with Belli on the roster. I’m sipping the kool aid skeptically for now 🤞🏻
