Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Where I’m at now that the weather has turned cold. You can clearly see which sections have no fiberglass yet. 000
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I remember now that I bought a commercial heating pad a couple years ago just for this reason and it works amazingly, curing the epoxy past tackiness in 2 hours compared to 6 hours. I used it last year a few times. I’ll do that. 000
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 23/09/2026I really like this honeycomb material I’m using for the core. 010
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Kind of what I’m going for. So much more work to do. Laugh at my warped stringer, I do. I don’t remember how it happened. It doesn’t matter, it’s permanently connected and doing what it needs to do, connecting the hull sides together. Once everything is epoxied it will be strong as steel. 020
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Lovely weather window opens up and hopefully these epoxy friendly temperatures will continue through September. 000

Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 13/08/2026I’ve done a lot of correct measurements and they always make me happy, but this one was perfect to fractions of a millimeter, and perfectly level at the top, so I’m extra happy. That panel on the side is just keeping out of my way, it doesn’t belong there. 000

Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 27/07/2026What a gorgeous day! This is where my boat will live when it’s built, the mighty Columbia River. 000
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 25/07/2026Starboard bow is now under construction. I’m glad to finally get this piece made so I can take the screws out of this board and make it flat again. Much more to do. The screws hold the shape of the bow as the epoxy bonds the pieces together. 000
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 19/06/2026About to fiberglass the tops of the steps (of my own design) for the bridge deck to the hull. Nice curves. 000
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 26/05/2026The damage was extensive when I had to turn the hull to move it. None of the inside had been fiberglassed yet so the core plastic was broken in places. It’s good to have it home though, I’m saving $120 a month and it’s a lot easier to work on it here. But I can’t grind or sand much: too loud. 000
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 09/05/2026By extending the length of bulkhead 6 I’ve made the deck flat instead of curved and I’ve given a lot more space to the hull in the back. 000
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 27/04/2026It’s home. I didn’t see anyone on the road the entire 3/10 of a mile. Lots of work to do on it. 010
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 26/04/2026My frustration is at full maximum in this clip after I broke a lot of the un-epoxied parts (stringers etc. not shown) trying to flip it over with the wheels and bulkhead frame attached a couple of days ago. It is repairable, contrary to my instant reaction. I’m back to my normal happy self now. 000
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 25/04/2026I thought about this procedure for a couple of years, and this was the best idea I could come up with. Seriously. I burned the crap out my hand on the rope that became instantly hot from the friction. The wheels on top are meant to turn the hull into a skateboard to wheel it home at 2am tomorrow. 010
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 19/04/2026If you post praise for Kamala… I mean if you call saying this wouldn’t be happening if we had all just held our nose and voted praise… then it says publicly that you don’t care about genocide, and I mute all of you here. It’s exhausting. 000
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 29/03/2026Now what’s left inside is all the fiberglass and then it will be ready to flip over and move, because the landlord sold the place and I don’t know how long the new owner, a developer, will give me to get out. 010
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 18/03/2026It’s been a long time since I posted a video. Crazy heat dome has me working outside again. 000
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 05/02/2026Got home around midnight last night after driving the truck the entire distance from Seattle to Boise, something I can’t do in a car because the seating is too uncomfortable. It’s such a great truck! Trying to fit three cars into two spot parking but not incurring the landlord’s wrath. 100
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 28/01/2026Thank God it’s still January, because I’ve been mostly idle as far as work on boat parts goes. It’s really hard to change my routine, but I haven’t wasted the entire winter yet. I’ve made 3/4 of 5 eight foot long stringers. I need to make 16 more and then fiberglass all 7 of the starboard bulkheads 010
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 21/01/2026I bought a truck! The owner of the property I’m building my boat on put it (the property, not my boat) up for sale as he foretold. I need to be ready to move the boat when the land sells, so I got this. Later I’ll rent a trailer. The F-150 is in Tacoma, I’ll go pick it up in February. 010
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 08/01/2026I just found out I won’t need to hire any pilot cars to move my boat into Oregon! I’ll just have to make it about 30cm narrower to keep it under 14ft. Wonderful! What a load off my mind. 010
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 08/01/2026I have 16 of these! I’m so happy I don’t have to buy any! These are for the casters for the dolly I will make for the hull. I’ll have to move it eventually because the owner is selling the property where I’m building the boat. 010
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 01/01/2026Many solo sailors are not often properly attached to the boat. Some leave a trailing line in the water thinking they will grab it if they fall in, but I think that’s just fishing for something very large using yourself as bait as the boat sails on. www.boatnews.com/story/34457/...boatnews.comThe lifeline on a boat, all you need to know to use it safely_ The lifeline is the link between the sailor and his boat and is the point of attachment of the harness lanyard when moving around the deck. I also need for time to slow down, because I’ve only got about two more guaranteed weeks left of this year of warm enough weather for epoxy work. A fortnight. 000
Geoffkryten🍀 @geoffkryten.bsky.social · 12/09/2025I sanded this today and it even looks smooth to me on the security camera. Not the bow, just the hull side. 000
