My plan this morning was to go in and talk with my manager, talk them up to him so he goes in with an idea of who they are and what they are capable of even if they themselves can't convey it properly. But now, I'm uncertain, conflicted. Is this really helping them or setting them up for failure?

My childhood friend is very opinionated and vocal, these ppl may not take kindly to such, I've seen them conspire and fired someone for being such. The protege is very much like me, he'd keep his head down and plot his escape, and he has youth and skills on his side so he's "fine" with being home

There are multiple vacancies for the post so that's not my conflict. My conflict comes in that this place has a terribly toxic work environment, do I want to bring my friends into such an environment.

I'm conflicted. A few mths ago HR asked me if I knew any techs looking for work, I gave her 2 names. 1, a childhood friend who could really do with the pay increase and 2, a youngster I consider my protege who was recently out of work. They both have been called in for interviews today.
