Dividing (primarily online) social justice activism into "1.0" and "2.0" forms is not particularly useful. It conflates two coexistent but orthogonal driving forces with mixed manifestations that can be difficult to distinguish: enforcement of social hierarchy, and genuine social justice.

Did Nazi Germany have a similar disdain for intellectualism as the current US does? Or did it survive on anti-scientific faux intellectual rationalisations? I know they rejected many aspects of science they didn't like, but did they reject expertise wholesale? It is such an odd phenomena.

If the renters got together they could have gotten the mortgage and serviced the loan with 500 left over. Why pay a landlord if you're not loan the capital from them? If you're paying for the whole thing it should be yours. Are there any jurisdictions that force owners to give equity to renters?
