She’s wrong on many factors, but I find it wild these transphobes who regularly declare that woman = "adult human female" miss the fact that 12- 17-year-olds aren’t adults, and therefore NOT women! Maybe Helen Joyce makes the same mistake when she reads erotic fanfic involving children (doubt it 🤮)

Apparently, I’m an “individual of childbearing potential (12–55)”.

I think you’ll find the word is WOMAN.

And in its bid to be “inclusive”, this NHS Trust appears to have overlooked the fact that some girls start their periods before the age of 12, and some women continue after 55. While pregnancy at those ages is rare, the age range isn’t an absolute boundary.

So WOMEN AND GIRLS might be clearer still.

In healthcare communications, clarity should always take priority over ideology.

Familiar words like "women" or "girls" are easier to understand than “individuals of childbearing potential”, particularly if English is your second language.

And before anyone tries the “what about pregnant children?” argument - yes, people really use that to justify removing women's sex-based language 🙄 - it is widely understand that, while less common, a young woman i.e. a "girl" could also be pregnant."

The BBC has already responded to my complaint from yesterday, via copy and paste. This is unacceptable. I’ve raised a complaint in response to demand that my complaint is adequately addressed.
"Thank you for contacting us about Strictly Come Dancing regarding the blurring of a message on a T-shirt seen in a training room clip.

As is standard practice on any entertainment show on the BBC and in line with our editorial guidelines, appropriate steps are taken to reduce the inclusion of any overt branding or slogans that may be present, regardless of the wording or statement in question.

Thanks again for getting in touch. We’ve shared your comments with the Strictly team and with senior BBC managers through our complaints reporting process.

If you’d like to understand how your complaint is handled at the BBC, you might find it helpful to watch the short film on the BBC Complaints website about how the BBC responds to your feedback. It explains the BBC’s process for responding to complaints, what to do if you aren’t happy with your response and how we share the feedback we receive.

Kind regards,

BBC Complaints Team
www.bbc.co.uk/complaints""
Your response acknowledges my complaint but fails to address it. You've repeated a generic statement about editorial guidelines while ignoring the points raised.
I didn't contact you to hear your branding policy repeated back to me. I complained because the BBC blurred a message supporting transgender women's safety, visibility and respect.
In December 2025, the BBC described "Protect the Dolls" as calling for "the safety, visibility and respect of transgender women against anti-trans rhetoric and violence". Which part of that message does the BBC not want its audience to see?
You claim to remove "any overt branding or slogans" regardless of wording. Yet Carlos Gu wore a T-shirt repeating "Feminist" during week one rehearsals. As a feminist, I'm glad he wore it and support his right to do so. But if the policy applies regardless of the message, why was his shirt acceptable while Bethany's was blurred? Your explanation isn't consistently applied. Explain why.
This also sits within the BBC's wider record on trans issues. A Good Law Project-commissioned poll found 70% of trans respondents considered BBC News's reporting about them hostile. TACC has documented patterns in UK media coverage of trans people and our rights. The BBC has helped sustain hostility towards trans people. Against that background, hiding a message calling for our safety and visibility raises serious questions about its role in our erasure.
Your response has addressed none of this. Sharing my comments with senior managers doesn't answer my questions.
I expect a substantive response identifying the exact guidelines that justified blurring Bethany's shirt, explaining the apparent inconsistency, and addressing the impact of suppressing messages of solidarity with trans women.
The BBC knows what this message means. It explained it publicly, yet chose to hide it. Why? Answer the complaint I actually made, rather than repeating a generic statement that evades it."

NEW 🚨 This is what critics of Labour’s so-called Conversion Practices Bill have been warning about.

Parents are already being referred to social services - and even the police - for refusing to affirm a child experiencing gender distress.

Saying no to a child who wants you to buy them chest binders, agree to puberty blockers or call them by a different name is what many would regard as good parenting.

Children’s brains are still developing. What they say they want at 14 may be very different a decade later - by which time some changes to their body may be irreversible.

Now imagine giving the state even more power to intervene.

Parents must be free to question life-changing decisions about their children without fear of being treated as abusers.

My latest for the Mail on Sunday.

Amazing complaint from @coramcgladdery.bsky.social raising some important points. I’ve also raised a complaint asking which part of the meaning of "Protect the Dolls" the BBC doesn't want to promote.
"I’m complaining about the BBC blurring “Protect the Dolls” on Bethany’s T-shirt during Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing broadcast after deleting and reposting promotional footage that avoided showing the message. Apparently, even a message of solidarity with trans women was too much for the BBC. A spokesperson defended this, stating “appropriate steps are taken to reduce the inclusion of any overt branding or slogans”. But this isn’t branding. It’s a message of solidarity with transgender women, and the BBC knows exactly what it means. In a December 2025 article, the BBC itself described the phrase as calling for “the safety, visibility and respect of transgender women against anti-trans rhetoric and violence”. Those are your words, not mine. So which part of that message does the BBC not wish its audience to see? Our safety? Our visibility? Our right to be treated with respect? Let’s call this what it is: trans erasure. A message affirming the visibility and safety of transgender women has been deliberately obscured. At a time when trans people face relentless hostility, the BBC has chosen to hide a message of solidarity rather than let it be seen. Hiding the message doesn’t make us disappear, but it does raise serious questions about whose visibility the BBC considers expendable. A generic reference to editorial guidelines isn’t an adequate answer. Would the BBC treat a message supporting another marginalised group in the same way? If not, why are trans women being treated differently? I want the BBC to identify the specific editorial guideline that justified this decision and explain why a message advocating our safety, visibility and respect was considered unsuitable for broadcast. The BBC knows what “Protect the Dolls” means because it’s already explained it to the public. So why, having acknowledged the importance of our safety and visibility, did it choose to hide a message calling for precisely that?"

I’ve emailed Andy Burnham and Bridget Phillipson with a name change suggestion for next year's conference.
"Dear Ms Phillipson and Prime Minister Burnham,

I understand that Labour’s National Annual Women’s Conference took place in Liverpool on 26 September, with reports suggesting that attendance was somewhere around 200 women, compared with roughly 1,000 in previous years.

Given that rather spectacular reduction, I have a modest suggestion for next year.

Perhaps the event could be renamed the Labour Party (Handful of) Women’s Conference.

It would certainly be more accurate, and it might save on printing costs.

Of course, there is a more serious point underneath the joke. When a women’s conference loses the vast majority of its attendees, perhaps it is worth asking why so many women decided they no longer wanted to be there.

If Labour genuinely wants to represent women, it might be worth listening to the women who stayed away.

Yours sincerely,"

I have written to @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social to ask some important questions relating to her appearance and comments on The Daily T's Sunday Showdown, where she stated she was "a woman, defined by my biology", and that a women’s refuge should be for those of us who are “biologically women"
"... When asked whether you would have allowed a trans woman fleeing domestic abuse into the women’s refuge you once managed, you answered: “No.”

You said that alternative provision could be made, and that a women’s refuge should be for those of us who are “biologically women”.

That deserves considerably more scrutiny than another political soundbite.

You have chosen to justify your position by appealing to biology, so I would like you to explain what you mean by that claim in biological terms, rather than simply referring back to the law, the Supreme Court or the EHRC.

What, biologically, is a woman?

The scientific picture is considerably more complicated than the neat binary your statement suggests. Sex-related biology involves multiple characteristics, including chromosomes, gonads, reproductive anatomy, hormones and secondary sex characteristics. These characteristics do not always align in the stereotypical way, which is why medicine recognises differences of sex development. Contemporary scientific literature describes sex-related biology as involving multiple interacting characteristics rather than one single biological test that can infallibly sort every human being into one of two boxes.

You already know this. Biologists, doctors and other experts sent you an open letter specifically explaining these issues. They warned that reducing human sex biology to an immutable binary is an oversimplification and that policy built upon that oversimplification can cause real harm.

That does not mean biological sex is meaningless. It obviously is not. Female and male reproductive biology are real and medically important. But acknowledging that doesn't require pretending every human body is a perfectly standard biological specimen.

So let us get away from slogans.

You say that you are a woman “defined by my biology”. You say that I am not.

What, precisely, is the biological distinction you are making?""...And how would you establish it?

Would you take my blood? Sequence my chromosomes? Examine my gonads? Inspect my anatomy? Measure my hormones? Demand medical records?

Because the moment “biologically a woman” has to become a real-world test rather than a political phrase, the simplicity disappears.

And nowhere is that more obvious than in the refuge you once managed.

Imagine a woman arriving at the door after fleeing an abusive partner. She is terrified. She has no passport, no birth certificate and no medical records. She may have left everything behind to get herself and her children somewhere safe.

You have said the refuge should be for women who are “biologically women”.

So how does the refuge establish that?

Does she need to prove her chromosomes before being allowed through the door? Does somebody examine her body? Does she have to produce evidence of her reproductive anatomy? Or does a member of staff simply look at her and decide whether she appears sufficiently female?

Because the last option is not biology.

It is gender policing.

And then comes the question you cannot escape: how would you identify a trans woman without simply assuming that she is trans?

You cannot see somebody's chromosomes. You cannot see their gonads. You cannot see their hormone levels. You cannot see their developmental history.

If your answer is appearance, you have created a system in which women can be challenged because they are too masculine, too tall, too muscular, too deep-voiced, too gender-nonconforming or do not conform to somebody else's idea of what a woman is supposed to look like.

That is not a minor administrative problem. It is the policing of women's bodies, dressed up as biological certainty.

And feminism should recognise that for what it is....""...Sex and gender are related, but they're not interchangeable concepts. Sex encompasses biological characteristics and processes; gender also encompasses the social and personal dimensions through which human beings understand and live their gender. The scientific literature itself recognises that these concepts interact in complex ways rather than functioning as two completely separate boxes.
...You have experience running a women's refuge. You know what a woman arriving at that door needs. She does not need a politician's abstract definition of womanhood. She needs safety.

So I am asking you, as Minister for Women and Equalities, to answer some very straightforward questions.

What biological characteristics make you a woman and make me not one?

How would you establish that distinction in practice?

How does your definition account for women with differences of sex development?

What happens to women whose chromosomes do not fit the stereotypical XX model?

What happens to women who cannot produce eggs, who have no ovaries, who have undergone hysterectomy or who have otherwise experienced changes to their reproductive anatomy?

And most importantly:

How does a frightened woman fleeing domestic abuse prove that she is “biologically a woman” without being subjected to exactly the kind of bodily scrutiny and gender policing that feminists have spent generations challenging?

If your answer is that she does not have to prove it, then why should a trans woman?

If your answer is documentation, what happens to the woman who has none?

If your answer is appearance, whose idea of female appearance are you using?

And if there is no practical biological test, then perhaps “biology” is not quite the straightforward answer you have presented it as.

Women fleeing violence need refuge workers asking whether they are safe, not whether they can pass an ideological biology exam.....""...You have chosen to draw a line between yourself and me by saying that you are a woman defined by biology and that women like me are not. I am therefore asking you to explain where that line actually is.

Not in a court judgment.

Not in an EHRC document.

Not in a political slogan.

In biology.

Because if you cannot define the biological test, and cannot explain how it could be applied fairly to women standing at the door of a refuge, then “biologically a woman” is not the clear, objective safeguard you claim it is.

It is simply a phrase being used to decide which women are allowed through the door.

And when the woman on the other side of that door is fleeing an abuser, that is not an abstract debate.

That is somebody's life.

Yours sincerely,

A woman who apparently needs a biology exam to prove it,'

Sex Matters' claim that the Sex by Deception guidance by the CPS is not transphobic enough has been dismissed: Sex Matters v Director of Public Prosecutions www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/u... DPP agreed before the case to make some changes to the guidance, which we will need to see how it's changed
"The outcome
156. For the reasons we have explained at paras 123-134 above, we do not accept that a
suspect’s deception as to their gender identity is incapable of vitiating consent to sexual
activity for the purposes of section 74 SOA whatever the circumstances. In order to
avoid any misunderstanding, we emphasise that our decision goes no further than that.
We do not conclude that a deception as to gender identity will negate a complainant’s
consent to sexual activity; whether or not a particular deception has that effect will fall
for consideration on the basis of the circumstances and evidence in the case in question.
However, on the current state of the law we cannot conclude in advance of such cases
arising that a deception as to gender identity could never negate a complainant’s consent
and it would be unwise and inappropriate for us to do so.
157. It follows that we have rejected the claimant’s Ground 1. The DPP’s Deception
Guidance does not wrongly state the law in this regard (paras 135-142 above).
158. We have also rejected the claimant’s Ground 2, as the DPP’s guidance does not present
a misleading picture of the true legal position, as we have explained at paras 145-153
above.
159. Accordingly, we will dismiss the claim"

The purpose of these competitions is to encourage and support participation by girls in advanced mathematics competitions.
Having taken legal advice, UKMT has concluded that, under the Equality Act 2010 as determined by the Supreme Court, eligibility for these competitions must be based on biological sex. Jill is a woman. I went to school with her. Gender ideology trained people to treat “woman” as a look, so now a female cop gets the side-eye because she doesn’t match the approved aesthetic. It does my head in!

Women shouldn’t have to pass a beauty test to be believed.

If Graham Linehan's kids didn't paraphrase Father Tedd, I would be deeply saddened by a failure to provide better comedy than Glinner: "So you're a transphobe now, Father"
An older man in a tweed coat and cap stands behind a stone wall in a green field; meme caption reads, “I hear you’re a racist now, Father.”

What is a woman, then, since female relates to sex? As per the version of the definition they love, "Adult Human Female", woman clearly is not a sex, so it is a gender... which makes up part of someone's identity... oh wait, so gender identity 🤦‍♀️

Woman is a 'gender identity', according to the EU research agency.

GENDER IDENTITY
Researchers participating to Horizon Europe proposals and projects can self- declare their gender identity along three categories:
O European Union, 2026. Source: Master1305, Shutterstock.
• woman,
• man,
⚫ non-binary.
However, as the 'non-binary' category currently represents less than 1% of the self-declared gender identities, it is not taken into account in the calculation of the ranking criterion for ex aequo proposals."

So their actions are directly endangering lives
"Terrorism
The Terrorism Act 2000 defines terrorism, both in and outside of the UK, as the use or threat of one or more of the actions listed below, and where they are designed to influence the government, or an international governmental organisation or to intimidate the public. The use or threat must also be for the purpose of advancing a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.

The specific actions included are:

serious violence against a person;
serious damage to property;
endangering a person's life (other than that of the person committing the action);
creating a serious risk to the health or safety of the public or a section of the public; and
action designed to seriously interfere with or seriously to disrupt an electronic system."

And of course, even this exclusionary policy, which overreaches beyond the Supreme Court ruling and the EHRC Code of Practice, is not enough for FWS, which has published its consultation responses. Basically reads as: "trans 'women' are men and therefore they have to use the men's facilities"
"The third point is less clear. Cubicles are not rooms. A self-contained room with a toilet and sink with a lockable door accessed from an open public area, and designated for use by either sex is fine. However, cubicles within a room – regardless of whether they contain a sink and have floor to ceiling partitions – is a mixed sex facility and carries heightened risks for women and girls. In the above case, at para 47, the court found that the shared waiting area outside such cubicles to be an integral part of the toilet space. Many parents would consider it unsafe to allow their young daughter to go to the toilet by herself and potentially be alone in a room with several men. It would also make it difficult for a mother to use the toilet herself, as this is often done with the cubicle door slightly open to keep an eye on the baby in a buggy or toddlers waiting outside. It is entirely foreseeable that some users, in particular women and girls, would experience such mixed sex toilets as discriminatory or amounting to harassment (hostile environment, etc) on the basis of sex."

Know matter how much they try to deny it, the fact is that these spaces have always been used by trans women, and they always will. This is the moral panic, that trans people are some new fad social contagion, yet we have been documented throughout history.
"Imagine now, how a young girl will feel.

Women's toilets have always been safe for young girls to use unaccompanied, because of the singular fact that men are not allowed in them!

Mothers have, heretofore, been able to let younger girls use female toilets (and thereby begin to develop independence), because they have been exclusively female spaces.

And, I'm sure we can all remember as teenagers, using the loo in droves to gossip, put on make-up, do our hair, and frankly, just to socialise.

Now that final bastion of female security and refuge is being removed from adolescent girls.Imagine now, how a young girl will feel.

Let's be clear: they're raising a formal complaint and calling for the guidance to be replaced with what they deem to reflect the law, which will lead to legal action if they do not comply. They are attacking the NSPCC. Vulnerable children will be affected.

We note that NSPCC continues to report the numbers of its trustees, staff and volunteers who are "male (including transgender men)" and "female (including transgender women)". This is inconsistent with the Equality Act and undermines understanding that people who identify as "transgender women" are male and people who identify as "transgender men" are female.
It is a serious institutional failure for the nation's pre-eminent child-protection charity to lose sight of the need for clear policies and recordkeeping. An institution that encourages confusion and ambiguity about safeguarding practice in relation to male and female adults and children is in danger of losing the nation's trust.
Please treat this as a complaint. This guidance should be withdrawn and replaced with guidance that is clear and in line with the law.
Yours sincerely

Along with being an anti-rights organisation, it's reasonable to call Sex Matters an anti-charity organisation, from celebrating the closure of a period poverty organisation, due to inclusive language, to the constant complaints and legal threats, all from an org that claims to uphold human rights.

@MForstater - 10h
I have written to Chris Sherwood, CEO of @NSPCC about their changing room guidance for schools.
Instead of responding to increasing clarity about the law by making guidance clearer it has gone the other way.
Instead of being clear that that "where possible, the adults who are supervising children getting changed should be of the same sex as them" it just droped that part of the guidance."

c. Colleague facilities
Our priority is to ensure that all colleagues are treated with dignity and respect and have appropriate facilities at work. We are committed to providing inclusive gender-neutral facilities for our trans, non-binary and gender-fluid colleagues. Our aim is to incorporate inclusive facilities for all our colleagues wherever practicably possible, including investing in gender neutral toilets. Other facilities may include access to lockers or changing facilities.
Where these facilities (toilets, lockers and changing facilities) are readily accessible, trans, non-binary and gender-fluid colleagues should use these facilities, or the facilities that correspond with their sex assigned at birth/biological sex."

Back in July, I made extensive edits to Halsey's Wikipedia page so that the article fully reflected their pronouns (she/they). These changes have been reverted for 'consistency '; I do not consider this reasonable. Respect for someone's identity should not be sacrificed for 'consistency'
"Reverting of pronouns
Latest comment: just now

Halsey uses she/her and they/them pronouns, of which I made edits to reflect this. Changing these for consistency does not show respect to their identity, which in circumstances in which an individual uses a mixture of pronouns, is to alternate between their preferred pronouns. Not doing so shows a lack of respect for their identity. Yes I could undo these changes, but I feel this will be reverted back again.

This is not the same issue that is ongoing in relation to Royce White, this reflects clear evidence, statements, articles, etc that reflect the validity of Haley's identity. If we believe in accurate information, respecting people, making edits for 'consistency' is not the way to do it"

Every time I mention Graham Linehan I regret it but since we're mentinoned here, the reason Jesse and I (very lightly) criticized Graham in the first place was because he went on this campaign to publicly humiliate the transwomen using a dating app where they were welcome to be. So the self-proclaimed protector of women was bullying both the users and the female owners of the app for not adhering to HIS vision for THEIR app.
