Working on my cardigan outside and noticed the last remaining zinnia matched perfectly. Love to see it.

A bright, vibrantly magenta zinnia flower. Hanging behind it is a crochet project, displaying similarly bright and vibrant shades of magenta, purple, orange, and black. The two almost match.

Up to four separate women at work saying they’ve noticed me out walking and being encouraging. I continue to be perceived against my will (it’s fine).

I did not then and to this day have no idea why she thought we didn’t not get along.

Every so often out of nowhere I will suddenly remember the girl in school who approached me after gym at the end of a semester to announce that she “knew we didn’t really get along” but “in the name of the holidays and being a good Christian” was willing to start over and try to get along with me.

Hahaha, guy who shares my office heard some people talking shit about how “Amanda just wears those tight shirts and doesn’t do anything” and stuck his head out to see what their problem was with me (Oops no it’s yet another Amanda who works here; there’s at least three of us)

I could not tell you why I drew the first version of my little shaman ten years ago, much less why I redrew her five times on the same day in the years since. Well, at a certain point it’s tradition or something. 2026 draw Kynder day, to celebrate it being her Interlude comic year finally.

(If I can build up my stamina a little more I can manage over a mile’s worth of loops on my break, but I’m not quite there yet)

Started walking loops around the building at work on my lunch breaks. The past two days I’ve had ladies I used to work with tell me they’ve noticed and they’re proud that I seem to be doing a little better every day. Oh no I was perceived vs oh that was kind of them to say.

A new skirt design: Magpies! Magpies represent luck, both good and bad, and boy, does that feel appropriate to my life right now. #art #original

Close-up of Maya digitally illustrating a repeating pattern of black-and-white magpies in flight, surrounded by white stars and sweeping motion lines on a warm taupe background. A hand holding a stylus is visible working on the artwork on a drawing tablet.

Dear guy in the break room: I understand sometimes you just gotta belt out the song in your soul, but there is just a pane of glass between you being alone in there and me, a captive audience. All this to say out of all the songs that exist, the fact that you went with Big Balls is truly a choice.

What you need to understand is nothing we built was “off the shelf.” Store-bought environmental assets for stop-motion features do not exist. We were given concept art and told “make it look like this.” Everything you see here, down to the dirt and moss, was meticulously designed and crafted.

Pictured: ten seconds before drama. Walking the little man and a dog hopped the fence to get at us. Thankfully, they were not aggressive, just over curious, I was able to get mister man up off the ground, and also other dog’s mom was RIGHT on his heels to get him away and back to his yard.

A tan and grey dog walking on a residential street. He is sniffing around, blissfully unaware he’s about to get picked up and going home.

Did not realize how fucked up I still was from the multiple flooded basements this spring until I heard the storm rolling in as soon as the sun went down. The new pump has worked fine, I don’t think we’re supposed to get all that much rain, but man alive am I anxious about it.

Mandatory subpar lunar eclipse photo. We have fun anyway.

A photo of the moon, most of it an orangey red color, with a glowing sliver of bright white at the top. It’s a lunar eclipse!

Love to watch wheel of fortune on a local tv channel, so I can see the local ads, like the lawn company with the slogan “high on grass”, the shitty green screen Jungle Law firm, and the company that uses Malarkey in a rhyme in their jingle. Local ads, truly lost in the streaming shuffle.

Maybe so, maybe so. (If only we had picked a different theme, could have gotten gay elf knight and special armor fittings. There’s always next year.)

I promise I do, I just have pivoted this year to a gal and her mentor and the long shadow cast by her two MIA-presumed-dead boyfriends.

A drawing of two Draenei women, one dark grey with freckles and curly head wearing a brown and teal outfit. Standing beside her is a pale Draenei wearing a brown outfit.

The grey one barely reaches the shoulder of her companion. She is the one with the two missing boyfriends. The taller one is her extremely patient mentor and mother figure. Her current love life does not feature in the comic whatsoever.

Me, after Interlude every year: next year: gay elves. For sure. This year: not even drawing elves at all. The friends who only know Warcraft through the lens of looking at my interlude comic are going to be suspicious that I even have gay elves.

An alternative feel good ending of Curse of Ula'tek inspired by that one scene in Brother Bear. The spirit of Kinduru glowing in glod is hugging Zul'jan and Zul'jarra who press their foreheads to him. Zul'jan has scales and feather's remnant of when he was cursed.
