I really needed this after a full day of submitting consulting proposals. 😵‍💫

I'm doing some practice exams to prepare for a job assessment. I've been scoring well across everything *except* for non-verbal reasoning. It almost feels like there's a part of my brain missing as everything else comes pretty naturally. 🤔 (It's actually a cool nerdy challenge to have.)

#AI *improving* #rstats ranking on the index wasn't on my 2026 bingo card. 😲

R has improved on the tiobe index by 8 ranking points since the same month last year.

Just finished "Messy Jobs' by Jin Li, Yanhui Wu and Luis Garicano. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Out of five) Great book on #AI and jobs. It's one of the few books I've read that has a solid theory for how AI is likely to impact the labour market and firm dynamics. I now need to track down a summary to keep on hand.

One of my current #rstats projects is building a local #AI model for intelligently extracting financial information from public budget documents. It's early days, but I just got to the stage where it successfully extracted the data and identified an error from the MoF. 😎

Just saw The Odyssey. ⭐⭐⭐ (Out of five) It's really good, but the ending felt dragged out / out of place (at least, it didn't land with me). So, I'd rate the first 2/3 higher. Overall, it's entertaining and a sight to behold on the IMAX.

When I was on threads I asked if other people emailed themselves to remember papers, ideas and websites. The post was pretty popular as it turns out a lot of people do it. Anyway, today I built a filing system with the help of my new #AI Orchestration system. 😲 (This is the database log.)

Update: I now have a beta Orchestration system with a Kanban board for initiating projects for agents to tackle. 😎 (Reposted as I didn't add the board.)

This is a short read: Best Laid Plans by Sean Turnell ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Out of five) I worked as an economic advisor in #Myanmar during the reforms, but left before the coup. But, this was a painful read to revisit how much was selfishly torn down by the Junta. The country deserves more.

Bought a set of the Hifiman Ananda Stealth headphones the other day. I'd consider myself pretty sceptical of the whole audiophile thing, but after listening to them all I can say is: HOLY #-@&! I'd forgotten how enjoyable properly listening to an album is. 😲

I still haven't read the article, but the snarky blurbs for the post have felt like something out of a gossip column: 🤨

A Facebook post from The Economist featuring an article titled "Shining too brightly: Daron Acemoglu is a prolific and revered economist," with the subtitle, "Yet a lot of his work is oddly unconvincing." Below the text is a photograph of economist Daron Acemoglu, wearing a dark suit, tie, and glasses, gesturing with his hands while speaking.

Hey #rstats: Is there a way in Positron to view variables outside the Global Environment? In Rstudio I'll frequently change the focus environment in the environment pane to explore the contents of loaded packages, but I can't figure out how to do that in Positron. 🤔 @ivelasq3.bsky.social ?

Day 16 of the #NorthernTerritory: (First Nations art exhibition at the Dawin Museum / Art gallery) This is "Ngarndu Ngurra (My Country" by Allery Sandy

Abstract painting in a dense, all-over pattern of jewel-toned colors — coral, magenta, gold, purple, and orange — covered in fine dotted textures. Meandering teal and dark blue lines resembling river channels wind through the composition from top to bottom, branching and curving across the canvas.
