I think I know what I'm planning to do with this Bluesky account. I make books and courses, but I don't want to sell on this account. Instead, I want to use it to find people to commission for the parts I can't do well, like make graphics, music, video editing, and the like. Stay tuned.

Is there a good way to find books that are updates of, or responses to, a current book? Something like the "cited by" feature in Google Scholar. I'm really enjoying a general audience book on the business of sports, but it was written in 2003. Everything newer that I've found is academic.

Rocks and sand. Some tasks take a large block of time and can't be effectively chopped up because it takes a lot of time to get mentally or physically set up. Those are rocks. Things that can be chopped are sand. Plan your month around rocks and fill your day to day time with sand.

Spent hours trying to fix a data scraping function in the WorldfootballR package only to realize that the data can't be scraped through the page source code on Understat anymore. Then I spent time looking for any viable alternative package or data source for soccer shots; none existed. 1/4

Detailed sports data is getting harder to come by as database websites like Understat make scraping hard or impossible without providing some sort of API. I'm worried for the future of amateur sports analytics.

The closest things I've seen to a general book on the collectibles market is a guide to profitable thrifting from the 90s, and a market report that would have cost $3000 to tell me that NFTs are making a comeback. Is there really nothing about the economic trends across coins, cards, and Lego sets?

Thinking about PvE magic again, what if instead of a complex rule set for a deck to follow, what if there was one rule: "The deck starts with the following cards on the battlefield", and some of those cards were custom enchantments like "elves this player controls attack each combat if able".

Bettors have really underestimated the chance of draws this world Cup. My guesses why: 1. Draws are inherently hard to predict. Teams don't have to be equally good, they just have to close. 2. Better video review is disallowing a lot of goals, this lowering average scores, increasing ties. 1/2
