- Be me - Buy a cute retro gaming handheld (Anbernic 476H) - Load up all the best games of my youth (FF 1..n) - Play a lot. It's so fun. Play on the bus home from the work - Accidentally leave it on the bus today 😭 I can buy another but would need to start the games over from scratch. Gutted

Every time I see someone showing off their 3d printing setup and they just have rolls and rolls of filament sitting out there naked, on shelves, I console myself with the fact that while they may have sensible humidity levels, I probably enjoy better weather overall, bah humbug

The year is 2062¾. Humanity has learned how to travel in time. The inventors meet to discuss where it must be used. A heated discussion ensues, until one researcher stands up, slaps the table, and asserts "no. We have to prevent humans from learning to write. It's the only way to be sure."

The year is 2027½. Google renames chrome to Gemini Browser. But in this timeline, they allow an intrepid comms person to put out a statement consisting only of the words "we just felt like it idk"

Finally got around to mending the torn load lifter straps on my backpacking bag. One was torn and one fraying, so i cut them both off cleanly, cauterized with a lighter, made new straps and sewed them in with generous bartacking, then wrapped it up in tenacious tape. Proud of my handiwork tonight!

If GitHub is to get to a better place it won't only be on the back of adding nines. It will be because we figure out meaningfully better patterns for the agentic era.

Frustration dunks are more about your frustration than they are about what's true or what's good. Your frustration is not imagined. When GitHub is down, it is down for us just like you. Just remember that the folks at Next is made of people who give a shit — just as much as you do.

The mission of GitHub Next is to figure out how to make software dev better, not fix the fire du jour (which, man, hugops to all the engineers). Dunking on that won't lower the infra pressure. Stopping our research won't speed up efforts to break apart services into more horizontally scalable things

It does work well, and at the same time, it can be nontrivial to deal with orders-of-magnitude jump in traffic imposed by agentic software development. Both can be true at once.

I am wondering if in the future it will be: - my agent and your agent sharing a task (agents end up being everyone's very personalized avatar in the creative space) - we are communicating within earshot of multiple agents who do work (they are not intrinsically linked to either of us)

There should be a zero-width joiner that allows me to flip any emoji directionally. Like I want 🤞 to have a horizontally mirrored variant so I can emoji "both fingers crossed" but have it look like a left and right hand instead of two right hands

The only bit of hilarity in this entire story is that Netanyahu is clearly wearing a face that says "who is this guy with me right now? Something about AI? Take the fucking photo already"

Idan Gazit @gazit.me · 30/09/2025
I can't remember someone got publicly canceled like this with such zeal and vigor. Can you? Ever? What was special this time.

Idan Gazit @gazit.me · 30/09/2025
Just skimmed the text of the replies and they're all variations of "OMG Guillermo in a photo with the most evil human on earth" (not even hyperbole). Netanyahu is a piece of shit but not for the reasons most people think they ought to despise him. What's actually toxic is that he represents Israel
000
Idan Gazit @gazit.me · 30/09/2025
And — perhaps this was the wrong thing to cancel him for. Instead of eliciting a shrug people were shocked, shocked, he was photographed with the devil. Nobody canceled Tim Cook, who stood with Trump and gave a whole fucking speech from the Oval. Or any other business leader who pandered.

Idan Gazit @gazit.me · 30/09/2025
Anyone who doesn't want to use Vercel could have moved already. I'll believe "will it stick" when it comes to pass. 🤷 Somehow, this image of Guillermo fawning over Netanyahu (like anyone hopeful of making a sale) ended up being the bogeyman that… resonated.

Idan Gazit @gazit.me · 30/09/2025
the casual way with which people throw the term "genocide" around was insulting a year ago, now it is the standard tiresome reflexive reduction of this conflict. Netanyahu is a piece of shit AND warfare is not genocide. May you and yours never know war.

Edit: I don't mean _you_ you. I'm tired and angry and sad. But the fact that this logic computes for anyone at all is gobsmacking.

Idan Gazit @gazit.me · 30/09/2025
Case in point "just" Trump was, as you say, not enough. But as soon as Israel is involved, very different story. "Gives them permission?" You get that you're like "ah well see now that Israel is involved it's acceptable to be a bigot" I'm out of this conversation, as it leads to nothing good.
110
Idan Gazit @gazit.me · 30/09/2025
x.com/rauchg/statu... I didn't see people cancel Vercel then, so it's not like people are applying some consistent set of values. Anything Israel related gets a special, separate yardstick, and I'm tired of watching it go by in my feed and biting my tongue, but I fell off the wagon by accident.

Bibi is an odious liar who would sell his own mother to keep his ass in his seat. Guillermo likes to fawn at people in power, including other odious people like Trump. So do I think it has special meaning that he posted a selfie with Netanyahu? No. It's a means to an end (fame) for him.

If you didn't think Vercel was icky for being a brofest but you think vercel is icky because Guillermo met Netanyahu, that says more about you buying into the fashion of hating on Israel because it's fashionable to be seen doing so.
