It boils down to the fact that the UK is led by (and voted in by) people who think the UK is special and some kind of super power. Until the reality of that sinks in, the UK is doomed to failure on euro/world stage

Clarke there railing against the people having power, promoting the myth that "growth" is the only metric for success and of course the championing of thatcherism that ruined the UK.

Fear of things like the euro is pretty mad. England is so parochial sometimes its like maypoles have fallen on heads.

Loving the bbc "Some catholics see the [orange order] marches as sectarian" Aye, and the rest of the world with a fucking a brain! A shared society does not involve one sided triumphant marches.

To think there are still people out there talking about "targeted strikes" and "minimising civilian casualties". This is no different to what Russia has done in Eastern Ukraine.

That whole plane hijack thing is a bit far fetched and because its being driven by the Israeli govt, it makes it even less plausible

I would imagine it would be a class action - itself hugely problematic for settlements, but then the clubs are largely shouldering the burden together vs just city, who may be in league 2 with a transfer embargo. Doubt the saudis would stay around facing huge bills then too.

Gaz Hay @gazhay.com · 30/09/2026
"pending appeals". I would think having to apply to join league 2 with a 10 year transfer ban might just promote a sale of the club anyway.

Gaz Hay @gazhay.com · 30/09/2026
Yeah but in terms of sporting achievement there is no other way to do it. The compensation for loss of opportunity (inc financial benefit if being in the league) is up to a commercial settlement. If league 2 will have them next season, thats up to them. But they are only finishing this season...

Gaz Hay @gazhay.com · 30/09/2026
There is the penalty to discuss for the cheating, the above is just the sporting consequences. Transfer ban for the same length as they cheated. I dunno about a fine tbh, i'd let the other clubs sue, that will be the financial punishment.

Gaz Hay @gazhay.com · 30/09/2026
If they were relegated then obv they didn't take part in the future seasons leagues at any level so are now "defunct". They have to apply to rejoin the league at whatever level will take them. They shouldn't kick another ball until they get accepted somewhere for next season. Then...

The City thing. If players on sham contracts started a game (even say a level of 3 players) then those games are 3-0 walkovers against city, historically. Then adjust league tables for who won what. The problem being they'd have been relegated, so then any PL games after that should be 3-0 w/overs

Royal Mail is just a scam at this point. They don't guarantee they will deliver post unless you pay extra but now they are charging for postage but not giving you labels to print for "print at home" collection.

Had Bryant or Burnham had any competence they would have seen the Drumcree standoff coming and sought to avoid it. Usual reactionary politics failing us all again.

Drumcree Orangemen desecrate the memory of the dead Seven people - three men, one woman & three children - were killed by loyalist terrorists because of Drumcree in the 1990s. I covered the terrible events. Is this forgotten? What’s happening now mocks their loss. In @heraldscotland.bsky.social

There were more men in a single documented gang rape at one school than the number of competitive trans athletes nationally. But I’ve heard a lot more politicians being asked about protecting girls from one of these scenarios and not another… I’ll let you guess which is which.

Quite aside from the DonnieDunbo maths, if the state is taking in the tariff revenue (that doesn't exist) why would democrats be able to access that and dispense it?

Unionists are hilarious. Michelle o'neill being painted as some lawbreaker as she protested a sectarian parade. The DUP had a First Minister who actually invaded what he called a foreign country (and was ejected by local police) They have no intention or interest in "shared" living in NI.

It became a bit of a rehash of the arguments of yesteryear and well, here we are. There was a reason parades commission made the decision to not let the march happen for last many years but a form signed wrongly apparently was all it took. Power-sharing will be over for a generation now.

Gaz Hay @gazhay.com · 27/09/2026
They ask every year but this year there was a procedural error. Unionists took it to high court for judicial review which meant they had to decide a new application. But unionists instantly spun this as "denying the march was declared illegal" So when new application came in pressure was on.

So the DUP realising their support was collapsing has effectively ended powersharing in NI with the push to force sectarian parades again. Its 2026 lads, time Stormont was reformed to a normal democracy and then let's see how many of NI want a return to this pish
