I can confirm, this how we spend half an hour on an occasional Friday as a team, and much fun is had. Excellent work by Jon.

New in Scheduler: Automatic scheduling and exporting
You can now set up scheduling and exporting logs to take place whenever is convenient for you - you'll never run out of logs again!

Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 18/08/2026
We also got smarter about some of the defaults. For example, whichever pass order you last used to manually schedule, we pre-select that here when setting things up. Similarly for exporting too.

Below, a few explanations of what will happen by default, with links to expand them should you need to tweak things. But otherwise, all the fiddly form fields are out of sight. And that's it.

Here's what we're shipping today. All of the essential options have been rolled up into a simple sentence at the top. And notice a subtle change to the wording - "ensure the..." - hopefully closer to how a user will think about this, and the output they expect.

Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 18/08/2026
We also didn't like how it referred to things like "every day, schedule 7 days". To us, that means every day, schedule what needs to be scheduled for the next 7 days. Most of the time, adding another day on the end. But for users, it could be confusing. Re-schedule all 7 days, every day?!

Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 18/08/2026
This is how it was until a week ago. So many form fields, I couldn't fit the whole view in one screenshot. It was all logical and the copy was mostly good, but it was overwhelming.

Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 18/08/2026
It's been mostly in the bag for a few weeks now, with our team and a few trusted outsiders having access to test it. But in just the last week, we decided to rip up the UI for how you set it up, and start again. I thought you might like to see the before and after for that.

Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 18/08/2026
We'd already made lots of improvements to scheduling in general. Earlier this year we shipped "back up and restore", and we were able to lean on the scheduled timing element of that to give us a head-start on this.

I'm so excited to be launching automatic scheduling and exporting in @aiir.com Scheduler today. It's been on our wish list since day one, and in the last cycle it was finally time to make it a reality.

Once you've got this stuff, it feels like it should've always been there. But that's the fun of product development, trade-offs and time. You can read more about these new features in @jonathancresswell.co.uk's blog post here: aiir.com/blog/post/ne...

New in Scheduler: Faster editing workflows
We've added support for copy and paste, selecting multiple items and an 'undo' option to logs, clocks and categories.
100
Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 14/05/2026
You can copy an item on one page and then paste it on another. You can make a bunch of changes and then undo them all. You can select ten rows, drag them down the log or hit "del" on your keyboard and they're gone.

Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 14/05/2026
Today we shipped multi-select, multi-drag, cut, copy, paste, undo and redo 🎉 I've been using them while testing for a few weeks, and it all becomes second nature rapidly. There's full keyboard shortcut support too.

Things that aren't priorities initially, because they're not critical for a functional product. But they're clearly important for a usable one. Maybe things that don't initially feel obvious in a web app, but are the bread and butter of a desktop one.
100
Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 14/05/2026
It's probably a Windows app that they've used for years, maybe decades. They're used to how it works, and no matter how much we try to focus on our approach, there are some things someone coming from that world is definitely going to miss.
100
Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 14/05/2026
That's usually our starting point. But it's not the starting point of many of our users. Their starting point is the scheduling software they already use.
100
Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 14/05/2026
It's an exciting prospect. A chance to forget or ignore whatever else is out there and do things our way, zero baggage. It doesn't matter how anyone else does this stuff, let's just think how we'd do it from scratch with nothing to worry about.

Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 14/05/2026
We've just shipped a package of new features for @aiir.com Scheduler. I'm really proud of them. Building a new product means you get to try lots of new things. New ideas, new approaches, new flows, new designs, new names for things, etc.

It's been a truly collaborative effort to ship this, all in the first six-week cycle of the year. We only decided we were going to do it just before Christmas. Kudos to @andybee.com, @jonathancresswell.co.uk , @alexwatson.co @dbj.bsky.social for being a joy to work with and delivering the goods.

Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 03/03/2026
We always try and think from the user's perspective and speak in accessible language. We also had to constantly watch out for when to use "back up" (verb) versus "backup" (noun).
110
Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 03/03/2026
I've particularly enjoyed working on the copy for this new section. Every word in the flow has been written with care and scrutiny. For example, instead of "Automatic backup settings", it's "Change when automatic backups happen".
110
Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 03/03/2026
And just as you can easily import a library from another music scheduler app into Aiir Scheduler, you can now in theory take a backup, close your account and move elsewhere. The data is in your hands.
110
Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 03/03/2026
They can take a backup and pass it to another Aiir Scheduler customer, who can then restore it to their account. This could be a game changer for consultants who want to share a format in an instant.
110
Gav Richards @gavrichards.com · 03/03/2026
We've just shipped "Back up and Restore" for Aiir's cloud basic music scheduler. Customers will now have their library backed up automatically every day, can take a backup and download it whenever they need, and restore a backup from the cloud or upload one from their device.
Screenshot of the first menu screen in the new "Back up or Restore" section of Aiir Scheduler. It asks "What would you like to do?" and then lists four options: Restore a backup, Back up now, Download a previous backup, Change when automatic backups happen.
Below that, it says "Automatic backups enabled", and says when the last backup was taken.
