When you casually link in your piece to a Manhattan Institute tweet that compares test scores and funding between PS 307 and Community Roots charter while purposefully omitting how vastly different their student populations are, then you are actively misinforming your readers 👎🏻

More from the training for the NYC CEC Antidiscrimination and Antiharassment Policy (Reg D210). In 2023 the FACE Dep Chancellor told me D210 was “an unfunded mandate inherited from the previous administration.” This training seems more about limiting DOE liability than protecting students/families.

This AI slop is from the required training module for the NYC Citywide and Community Education Council Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy (Chancellor’s Regulation D-210). John Davis’s name plaque is facing backwards and both of the women on the left are named “Maria Garcia."

Dan Weisberg spent most of his time as first deputy chancellor of NYC Public Schools trying to block full implementation of a law that would cap class sizes in lower grades at 20-23 students. Now he says we need AI in classrooms because it’s too difficult for teachers to handle 25-30 students. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Remember: any time you see the Manhattan Institute, the Post, the Atlantic, etc screaming and crying about school spending in New York City (but not the suburbs/rurals that spend more), they are really just saying that kids with disabilities shouldn’t be identified or receive appropriate services

The Untouchable Money Pit
May 7 • 48 min
And those aren't really the same thing.
And at some point, maybe we'll get to the age where we just call, you know, 60 or 70 percent of the kids disabled, and then we'll just put the others in their own class or something like that. I mean, I think there has to be a point at which we hit a number by which we're like, that many kids are probably not disabled.

Choosing to speak up about AI? Advocating for Palestinian rights or smaller class sizes? Raising concerns in your school community? The possibility of those moments shapes how people come to see their role in public life and building New York’s future. The buffer zone bills put all of that at risk.
