Cancer or HIV? HIV and certain cancers can present with similar symptoms. Given the potential symptom overlap, a strong focus on ruling out cancer may inadvertently delay an HIV diagnosis, increasing the risk of more advanced disease. ­ Read more ⬇️ link.gatewayc.org.uk/ckcancerhivx

🗣️ “26% of patients with visible haematuria had some sort of urological malignancy” In our new urological cancer course, Urologist Mr Sotonye Tolofari shares that urological cancers are often asymptomatic, but haematuria is the most common sign of bladder cancer and should be taken seriously.

How can GPs manage haematuria in cases of suspected bladder or kidney cancer? Haematuria is often a misleading symptom which is commonly attributed to benign conditions like UTIs, but 26% of patients presenting with visible haematuria are diagnosed with a urological malignancy.

🛑Stomach #cancer had the highest percentage of avoidable delays (34%) from initial presentation to referral, according to the National Cancer Diagnosis Audit 2018. ️In our latest Cancer Key we look at Stomach Cancer and consider if PPIs masking red flag symptoms. #PrimaryCare

We associate HPV with cervical cancer, but in our latest Cancer Key we see it's contributed to an increase of head & neck cancers in males 40-50🗝️ -It can lie dormant in throat tissues for years before symptoms -Responds to treatment but early diagnosis key -️Causes anus, penis, vulva & vagina cancers
