Did you know that WordPress theme.json, block.json and other *.json files have their reference schema files which allow your code editor to autocomplete and lint the syntax? Simply add a $schema element to the top of the JSON content and let the editor do the job.

That’s just the styling of Meetup with an extra bit to make it look like a WP in there. Quite clever really… 😁

Apart from the Bond-esque cars driving on water, I actually quite like it 😁

@wpldn.uk Fun effort by AI to create you a new icon!

A modern and vibrant cover image for a WordPress meetup event in London. The image should feature iconic London landmarks like the London Eye and Tower Bridge, generated by AI.

If you use ubuntu-latest in your GitHub workflow to push your plugin to the WordPress.org repo when you make a new release, you’ll soon need to install subversion when ubuntu-latest points to ubuntu-24.04 as that has had SVN removed. See github.com/10up/action-... for how to update your workflows.

I'm almost done adding Bluesky to wordpress.org/plugins/wp-t.... This was my first plugin, written in 2008, at a time when Twitter was just becoming the great social space it once was. This last few days have been the first time I've felt excited working on it in far too long! #WordPress

I am currently finding it hard to contribute to WordPress core. My favourite about WordPress is the community, but at the moment it feel fractured and there are lots of people missing. It makes me really sad, as thing community and software is a big part of my life.Without it, something feels missing

You probably last saw them when they were toddlers! Glad to hear you’re still in the community. I hadn’t seen you around and wondered what you’d been up to. How can your son be 26 when you’re clearly still in your 30s?!

Pretty sure there’s a plugin that does something similar - adds an environment label in the admin bar too (because we all know that we shouldn’t rely on colour alone to convey information, right? 😁).

Another thing-I-made promo for those who've not seen it. And a timely one given that #php v8.4 is out this week: caniphp.com A handy reference of what was added, when. With links to references. Like caniuse.com but for PHP! A nice way to explore new features and see what has changed!
