My favourite source for history, lots of other great podcasts out there, the Rest is History etc, but for the amount of quality content this is easily the best subscription I've got 👏👏

It's pretty obvious what Slot's views are on selection, so I can only assume certain accounts persist with the lots of changes narrative for engagement, he even said he'd go strong in his interview yesterday

Some fantastic teams in the 70's, Liverpool, Leeds, Arsenal, Derby, Forest, Ipswich and some big ones like Spurs and Man Utd getting relegated

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

Well worth a watch for anyone not old enough to stand on the Kop in the 70's and 80's youtu.be/g8zpu6yukyM?...

It's on YouTube somewhere, biggest crowd I ever saw at the South

010

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

Some of my tickets from around then, I'm sure the Bayern Munich semi final at Anfield was the first time I'd paid £2 in the Kop and the final in Paris was 25F about £2.50

010

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

That's right, I was on there as well, probably just off the left of that photo, Emlyn is looking right at the old South ground

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

I agree, it's a shame because Slot seems quite prepared to give good answers when he's not fed up of the idiots

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

The next month will be spent looking at the tv with the reflection of the Xmas tree in it 🤣

Timeline is much more enjoyable after I got rid of loads of stupid accounts that were in those LFC starter packs, still a work in progress, but a lot better

240

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

I can only assume these journalists have no self awareness to just how stupid their questions are, to both the manager, players and audience that would like to hear something remotely insightful

120

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

Quite happy that Slot doesn't seem as obsessed with making changes as some of our fans and content creators

020

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

I've finally, for now at least, worked out a way to get the best from all the twitter like platforms, I post pretty much exclusively on here, because it feels more friendly, I occasionally pop into Threads and enjoy that timeline, but use X for real time stuff and the accounts that don't post here

030

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

Let's see if anyone in the media will be able to find out what exactly Coote has been sacked for, lots of allegations, many quite serious, some that put into question the integrity of the PGMOL itself, but I won't hold my breath

020

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 08/12/2024

Not been a bad weekend of football considering we got postponed, quite like the fact teams are dropping points, like a proper title chase, unlike the madness of recent years

030

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 08/12/2024

Garston, Liverpool and since the 1971 FA Cup final, although my first live game was v West Brom at Anfield in April 1973 #lfc

Lovely meal in Elif on Lark Lane with Mel and then a couple of pints in what was my favourite pub in the Lane back in the late 80's

040

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 07/12/2024

Brisk walk for a coffee in Crosby and can confirm that Storm Darragh hasn't deterred the local pensioners from their Saturday morning shop 🤣

000

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 06/12/2024

As someone who uses Bluesky, Threads and Twitter for different things I really appreciate content creators who post across all platforms 👏👏

030

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 06/12/2024

Because people want to believe those who amplify their hopes, fears or prejudices, that's why social media is both brilliant and dangerous

120

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 05/12/2024

Haven't taken him seriously for a long time, he's a product of the Sky, Gary Neville money making model of football, where controversy drives engagement, sadly too many enjoy their content and believe the shit they spout

130

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 05/12/2024

In fairness to Mo he's playing a blinder in these non contract negotiations, I'm guessing the stats men are running every model possible to try and justify their position 🤣

020

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 05/12/2024

I really like Slot's interviews, sometimes I find coaches comments a bit embarrassing, especially after games, but this fella always hits the right note

170

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 05/12/2024

Reality check for those who think if we play like that again we won't be challenging in May, maybe that's true, but I'll guarantee we will, that's what football is about, look at City, Arsenal and so many others over the years, you can't win every game, that's why 100 pts has only been done once

030

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 05/12/2024

Sadly the media in this country, both social and mainstream swings wildly based on minor changes, these stats companies who give percentages on title chances don't help, but drama generates engagement and $$$

020

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 05/12/2024

I can still remember walking out into the old Main Stand for my first game against West Brom in April 1973 and looking over at the Kop, where I'd spend the next 20 years seeing us win everything over and over, we were very lucky

120

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 05/12/2024

Last visit to Goodison on Saturday to see the reds, back in the day you'd go quite often if like me you had blue mates, phone call on Friday night, pay on the gate the next day, I was there for both league titles and their big European night against Bayern, dozens of derbies as well

170

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 05/12/2024

I'll never understand the mentality of some on social media, everything is the best ever or the worst ever, they seem to lack any sort of rational thought process and balance, weird behaviour

060

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

After the last few years when City rarely dropped any points, some fans have forgotten what a 'normal' title challenge feels like, clubs draw and lose games, especially tough away ones, let's hope this time it's like that

030

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

I'd have taken 4 pts from Newcastle and Everton away, guess we'll just have to beat them on Saturday now

030

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

All to play for in the 2nd half, top teams find solutions, let's see if Arne and the lads can turn things around

000

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

Was always going to be tough off the back of Madrid and City, but that right side just isn't working, Szoboszlai and Diaz needed sooner rather than later

020

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

Paying the price now for following all those starter packs, lots of stuff and people I wouldn't usually follow on social media, thankfully I've another account that is purely what I want to follow, the way it always worked best on twitter

230

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

I'd love all three lads to sign new deals, but I'd say it should be van Dijk, Salah and Trent in that order, simply because while Trent is massively important he's at the point in his career where his head might get turned by other big clubs, I genuinely think the other two are desperate to stay

000

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

As a Liverpool fan I was spoilt for quality centre backs growing up, Hughes, Thompson, Hansen and Lawrenson, but the likes of McGrath and O'Leary always impressed

000

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

It seems all social media attracts a slightly strange element that becomes weirdly possessive of their chosen platform, we've arrived at that point on here now, people criticising others for pointing out the many obvious areas that need improvement and suggesting they go back to X 🤣

020

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

Tough trip to Newcastle tonight, let's hope we get another 3 pts, but if we don't it's important to keep some perspective and realise we can't win every game

030

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

Was a fantastic player when I first started watching the reds in the early/mid 70's, he also played a huge part in setting up the academy in Kirkby

110

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

Pretty fair assessment Brian, it's just a shame more big accounts, football clubs and content providers posted across platforms as this place could be even better, I guess monetising their output on twitter is more important

010

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

They all start like this until the media ask the same ridiculous questions every week, look at Slot, gets asked about contracts when we all know he'll say exactly the same thing, be much more interesting if they asked insightful tactical stuff, as he's obviously willing to engage

000

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 03/12/2024

Depends on what Alison's plans are for the future and whether Kelleher is happy to stay as a number 2/3

000

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 03/12/2024

I've also noticed that while many big content creators have a presence on Bluesky they post only a fraction of their stuff on here, despite apps being available that post the same thing across platforms, therefore it has to be so they still get monetised on X

120

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 03/12/2024

It's very much a secondary twitter like platform for most people, especially those who haven't taken the moral decision to quit X, personally I enjoy it here, but for anything real time like news and football I still use twitter

110

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 03/12/2024

Got an Uber from Crosby to Anfield last night at 4.30 for £10.91 actually felt sorry for the driver, so he got a better than usual tip

010

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 03/12/2024

I wouldn't judge Arsenal by their online fans, I've always found the ones I've met over the years to be among the better ones

041

GarstonRed @garstonred.bsky.social · 03/12/2024

Have to say as much as I love Jürgen the new fella is brilliant with the media, treats them with the respect they deserve 🤣
