If you get an email from klconniewanq@gmail.com asking for code, please note they do not work for Parade. I confirmed this with Mike at Parade directly. The scammer was also spoofing a parade email address. There are dickheads out there. Please RT for visibility for indies.

Well, @lukeplunkett.com 's Aftermath bonus blog just landed in my inbox, and it is as hilarious as it is an oustanding example of editorial skill.

Nope - If that account is disabled and then reactivated and updates with a new publication, it's not counted.

I started doing a fansite in 2003, and didn't call myself a videogames journalist until I was on staff in 2007. I would never call myself a real journalist, although I did write for some amazing lifestlye magazines etc.
020
Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 22/10/2025
Yeah, I feel for you there. I once had a fullt-time editoral role at $18k. I took a $10k pay cut to get out of freelancing, and that role was $6k higher than a magazine role. People should be paid for the value they bring, but online publishing pay has never been good from independent publishers.
020
Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 22/10/2025
They're classified as freelancers. But, I have no control over how Gamurs pay thier staff, or that they moved from staffed to freelancers post aquisition. Prior to aquisitions, the vast majority of their staff were full-time. They might not have been paid well, but that's another story.
100
Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 22/10/2025
And to clarify, I have never said full-time staff. I've said journalists. Being paid to write can, but doesn't always make you a journalist. Nobody on the planet could claim to know if someone is full-time or not, but our classification is as near as you can possibly get, I think.

Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 22/10/2025
We classify freelancers differently than full-time staff (They are also attached to multiple outlets on the platform). We classify tier one media (for the most part, and with a few exceptions), as websites with close to 1m deduplicated UMV+, owned by a business, paying their writers.

Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 22/10/2025
Then I'll consider you shocked. There are thousands of media writing for thousands of tier one publications globally. I'm more than happy to show you if you'd like (I can hide their details). gareth [at] pressengine [dot] net

We didn't add you as a contact - we have clients. As per privacy laws, they have a reasonable right to contact you and you have a right to request removal. We did that within a matter of hours.

Hey Jason, That's globally. Some territories have more videogames media than others, and a tier one website from thailand may be entirely unknown in the US or Europe. Also, the E3 leak didn't include an awful lot of media from oustide the US who didn't travel due to cost and/or relevance

Agree, but yor suggestions about the IDF are baseless, and denying a genocide is ridiculous at this point.

Of course they should have been freed a long time ago, but you ignored the most important part of my post. This is political, genocidal action to destroy a people. Does that not matter?

6 predictions for AI on #gamedev Nr 1: The bubble period will continue to be incredibly damaging to studios above a certain size. AI is part of an already existent trend that goes back a long time. Reduced cost and scale of development is the issue (not the opposite)..

Gaza is a pile of rubble, with two million people living in tents with no food, water or access to medical treatment. So Israel launches a ground offensive. This isn't about hostages anymore, it is about the destruction of Gaza and the genocide of Palestinians, and the world is complicit.

I love working in the games industry. My favourite part is when I'm on a flight and I can't get any emails, WhatsApps, Zendesks, slacks, discords, FB messages, Twitter& BlueSky DMs or SMS/phonecalls. Now is one of those times ✈️

I once questioned Liam Gallagher's income and he sarcastically called me a sexy fucker. I also once told the internet to retweet me, and I'd contribute to Keymailer's Ko-Fi account, because they needed the money. (then a competitor). I contributed the full £80 to their account.

So if the Nuclear threat is severely inhibited or 'totally obliterated' why is Benji still attacking Iranian infrastructure? It's almost as if he was lying, using Iran as a ruse to prolong his time in office. He'll still be flattening Gaza and anyone else to stay in power in six months.

Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 21/06/2025
So much for only targeting Iran's supposed Nuclear programme. Almost as if they're prepping for a ground war. Don't confuse Iraeli's with the Israel government; the government is doing everything it can to stay in power under a unity agreement. Benji knows he's on the way out

Because that's what PressEngine is and does, and that's why our coverage rate for all games, on both free and paid accounts is on the front page of the website. Right now, it's 80.93% coverage rate. It'll change in five minutes, but it's night & day ahead of everyone else.
020
Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 20/06/2025
AND ANOTHER THING: We are not interested in PressEngine being the platfrom with 10,000 requests for keys, which results in 500 pieces of coverage. We're far more interested in PressEngine being the platform with 2,000 requests for keys, which results in 1600+ pieces of coverage

I literally visit the channel and pick videos at Random. Sure, I can see the channel stats before visiting, but that's informative data, not the be-all-and-end-all. We're interested in what our clients are after - genuine community drivers/members who are passionate about videogames.

Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 20/06/2025
Remember, I approve every single user account on PressEngine manually. That's tens of thousands of influencers. It is manual, and we're better as a paltform for that process. Let's work together to cover more games than ever, and shine a light on new games wherever possible.
010
Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 20/06/2025
I'm not going to tell you our verification rules, because there are some that will try and game the system. We also have no issue perma-banning anyone. Sell code, banned. Bot, banned. Be a dick, banned.
110
Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 20/06/2025
But, key things to even be considered are: 1. Add & Oauth your channels. 2. Complete your profile (what you want to hear about, platforms and believe it or not, adding your channels are really important). 3. Produce regular content 4. Don't be a dick. If you don't do #2 within 7 days, auto-delete.

Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 20/06/2025
The more you cover, the more games you will be granted There is no "try before covering" on PressEngine like on another platform, because the feedback we got from publishers was that they want definitives, not maybes.
100
Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 20/06/2025
We are here to support you, and we're looking to build some major features to assist content creators, starting later this year. We don't offer free games, though. Developers, publishers and agencies want you to cover their games, which is why we have the coverage rating
100
Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 20/06/2025
If we see bot traffic, we're usually pretty good at spotting it. We're not perfect, but we see most of it. If you have bot traffic, you won't get in. If you only have one person commenting on every video, or only one person commenting in the chat, we see that too.
100
Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 20/06/2025
you're on Twitch, we do not need you to be on camera, but having you on screen helps you build audiences. It also helps us to get to know you, because before you get acecss, we check your videos, and we watch them, randomly.
200
Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 20/06/2025
Here's how accounts that do get access look to agencies, devs and publishers. Remember, relevent, recent, engaged audiences. You could have 15 aveage views, but if you're consistent, that's better than 400 average views for one stream, and 3 for the rest.
100
Gareth Williams @garethwilliams.bsky.social · 20/06/2025
You do not need 100k views on each video, or 6k average viewers. Although we display stats for those requesting code, we display relevent, recent stats. This, in addition to a coverage rating will very quickly show developers and publishers what they need to know.
