I can't seem to find anything suitable online, if anyone knows where I can get one let me know please. Specs I need: A 22-pin, 16K × 8 or 32K × 8 (8-bit wide), 15ns/12ns SRAM chip

So I tested 8x working chips with the current 64k config and they work. The issue I have is, for: - 32KB/64KB needs 2x 22-pin 4-bit chips - 128KB/256KB needs 1x 22-pin 8-bit chip I don't have an 8-bit chip for the tag 😢

You know when you're testing and they all seem ok and you're suspicious on whether the testing is actually working. But then, happy when you find a few dodgy ones.

Looks like I have a load of UM61256AK-15 chips, but I haven't tested them, so I need to do that.

Having a look at upgrading the cache on my 386DX-40, currently I have 64k, the board can do 256k.

Mission Accomplished: A 386 (AMD Am386DX-40) with 32MB RAM, running Windows 95, with Sound, Network and SVGA Graphics. Not a speed demon, but actually usable for basic tasks. 👍

Ok, something cool with my 386 build, I just found a Mr Bios that's works with this chipset! 🤤

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. 🤔 Windows 95 on a 386, let's see how it goes..........

So, I've managed to extract the files from the 1st x11 floppy. This is an excerpt from the post install script, can you believe my luck, it supports my Trident TVGA8900C.

They built an X-Windows system based on XFree386 release 1.2, which implements release 11, rev 5. There's a whole manual on it, but so far I've had no luck in trying to install it.

I've got it fully installed and working, super interesting poking around.

Tonight I've been experimenting with Mark Williams Company - Coherent (UNIX Clone) on the 386 on my bench.

I'm going back in time 35 years on my workbench tonight, doing some further testing for my upcoming 386 build. The fastest "true" 386 processor ever released: 40 MHz (AMD Am386DX-40) with 32MB of RAM. Even the RAM count noise gives me nostalgia goosebump 😊😊😊

A retro computer bench with an exposed motherboard setup running an MS-DOS 6.22 installation on a modern LCD screen ("26% complete" progress bar). The bare motherboard is loaded with green expansion cards, ribbon cables, and SIMM RAM modules on a green cutting mat. In front sits a classic Olivetti mechanical keyboard, a white Logitech trackball with a red ball to the left, and a stack of 3.5-inch floppy disks alongside a retro mouse to the right. Surrounding the workspace are loose hard drives, a Commodore 1084S CRT monitor, an Atari joystick, a yellow multimeter, and a "Flux Capacitor" sign with plush astronaut figures hanging above the setup.

On my bench tonight is an Athlon XP with a motherboard that has a 12v P4 connector (it is very stable). I'm using it to test AGP and PCI cards, so I decided to build up a modern Linux distro installatiom that has an optimised kernel for older 32bit machines. So far so good! 👍
