GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 6hThere was a weekly challenge on NSO to play Majora's Mask So I booted up the game for a few minutes and took some pictographs for fun 040
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 6hThe two kinds of people on vacation (which are you?) #fireemblem #fortunesweave 150
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 6hChapter 9 in Fortune's Weave (Cai) was an unexpected detour. The equivalent of a filler episode with a very unique concept in the middle of a season. 020
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 23hI enjoyed it too ... the only writing tweak I would have made is Link showing off the Great Fairy as the "hyrule baddie" which would then make the fairy in the bottle as his final item an even funnier continuation of the theme 210
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Oh there was screaming and wailing and gnashing of teeth and tears of the damned ... the works lol 110
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I spilled two coffees inside my car this morning and I'm not kidding when I say that this might be the worst saturday of my life ... and I had three funerals last year 261
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Underrated strategy And backed by biology (Your brain literally processes and works on it on a subconscious level) 140
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 02/10/2026My brain is mushed potatoes today but I'm also happy. I'll call it a win. 050
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I've been going all out with recruiting for Cai's path (my first one). For the other 3, I'll probably be pickier and stick to favorites haha 110
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 02/10/2026This is your reminder that, even though you often see dramatic takes online about how "streaming took blu ray away from us", most new movies still come out on dvd and blu ray these days. Yes, the size of the Best Buy / Target movie section in stores has been slashed, but you can order them online. 140
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 02/10/2026They seriously must be stopped 🤦♂️ Bring me back to the Endgame hype cycle where they were afraid to say almost anything about it 010
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Enjoyed the new Castlevania demo overall The art style isn't as timeless aa the PS1/GBA/DS games but it grew on me. Game runs smoothly on NS2 too. The first boss was an extremely sharp difficulty spike for me. I had to modify the settings slightly (70% damage received compared to the default 100%) 051
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I might wait and see if it gets a NS2 version down the line 110
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 02/10/2026"Ms. Rachel's Controversial Stances" would be a fantastic name for a show 000
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 02/10/2026It'll be called F/F/F (FAST / FURIOUS / FAMILY) 100
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Good to know I'm not alone in being stuck already haha 110
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026At least I already got to see the Zelda Symphony 11 years ago. I'll cherish that memory! For now, I'll look forward to the (hopefully enjoyable!) movie in April. Will be much easier to get tickets for that haha 030
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Whenever I get tempted to blow through Act1/2/3 with one character and then maybe go back to do other stories, I remind myself: this is a special, unique game; we're not going to get anything like it for a long time. Why rush it? I love every session I sit down with it so far and want to savor it. 120
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026next day update: - dentist done (no cavities) - no zelda concert for me, I'll live - sounds like job interview #2 is next week! - nerve block success, she's recovering now - pretty much caught up on work ...been a rollercoaster week but we're making it (the weekend will be much needed!) 020
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Ha, same, I haven't *paid* for Netflix in forever ... it's included in my phone plan. Currently the easiest way for me to rewatch Seinfeld when I have the nostalgia kick. Sadly, that show used to be immune to ads because of the licensing agreement but something changed and now it gets ads. 110
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026It used to be that you couldn't beat the value of streaming. $6 a month for more content than you can imagine? But now at $20 a month or more (and stuff being removed / shuffled around), you can buy a lot of complete series (and own them) for the price of 1-3 months of a subscription haha 100
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I personally feel more passionate about physical movies than I do physical games. Most games now have to be at least partially (if not entirely) installed anyways and it takes days/weeks/months to finish them. Streaming is constantly in flux, but you can still download games you bought on Wiiware. 120
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I asked my wife and son for a bunch of blu-rays for Christmas this year and gave them some suggestions. I can see myself getting back into movie collecting again ... I loved doing that from 2015 - 2019, and then it dropped off a cliff during covid / streaming. The time has come (again). 220
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Funny you say that ... GBA locked me in as a portable fan for life. I loved N64/Gamecube games but I went *so deep* into my GBA games. There's also something about having my own screen that I can just sink into and not have to justify to anybody else that I appreciate as a self-conscious person lol 010
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Happy to report you can. Lots of gameplay modifiers if wanted too 120
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Yeah, I'm curious to see how they handle it! Is there an "optional" dock that puts your PS6 (a handheld system) onto the tv? Or two different SKUs limited by each other's compatibility? Time will tell. 210
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026If PS6 is a fully portable powerhouse, I think the disc drama is going to nosedive online. People might still complain about the price and launch a bunch of Steam Deck / Switch comparisons, but there's going to be unprecedented levels of "ohhhh shiny, I want" from "never buying PS again" people. 230
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Right ... the XC3 upgrade in December is just a freaking brand new game to her lol 010
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026in my experience: native handheld > streaming > remote play as cool as the tech is, I'm becoming less patient about streaming, not to mention the increasing costs associated with it. I'd rather buy a more expensive PS6 handheld to download games to than pay for PS Premium several years in a row. 110
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Right ... she got to fully appreciate the art style in a way that the original hardware constantly fought My memory of the game is still (literally) blurry / fuzzy haha 010
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026As a 99% handheld gamer, this is subconsciously one reason that I haven't been playing PS5 games as much since the leak slipped out that PS6 might be a handheld. I'm in no rush, happy to wait for the fully native versions of games from 2025-2027 that I can play off the tv without any streaming lag. 120
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026My wife stopped playing Switch around 2021 for a variety of reasons ... which ended up working out for her, because since 2025, she's been able to take advantage of so many Switch 2 upgrades/patches on games from the last few years as first time experiences. She only knows TOTK / XCX/2 in 60fps 😆 250
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026That's the forever struggle ... the room needs to be just cold enough that you can bundle up tight in your blanket to sleep warmly without getting hot and sweaty haha 000
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Things I don't relate to: - complaining about a "bad" Nintendo Direct / State of Play; if even one really good game is revealed, that's a cherry on top for the year...if not, I still have decades of games to enjoy that I don't have time for - putting more than 1-2 hours into a game that I don't like 020
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Real talk: it's normal by our 30s/40s to reach a point where we settle into being naturally pickier about our free time. Our established preferences become more important. That's why you're probably feeling exhausted by the "next next next!" weekly hype (and related drama) cycles on the internet.static.klipy.comTheo Engler (Dylan Arnold) Says 'You've Changed'Alt: 'You've Changed' 110
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Fortune's Weave is the most invested my wife has been in a game's story in a very long time. She has told me so herself. Her order has been Theodora -> Cai -> Leda (currently in Chapter 7) I'm still just in Chapter 8 of Cai's story (my first). This game will stay in my rotation for a long while 😆 020
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I see somebody selling a "Nintendo Switch Smash Bros Game With All DLC Included" on Facebook marketplace for $140 Is this person stupid or do they think other people are stupid? 271
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I sometimes find myself struggling with "why do/should people I've never met in person care about the video games I play at night?" 120
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I was gonna say this ... if they sense you turning it into forbidden fruit, it's going to become their obsession. Hard balance to strike. Maybe let them watch it in an undramatic way, hope they get put off by how dated it looks to modern kids, and then suggest something superior (maybe like LOTR?) 120
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Today's stressors: - dentist (right now) - zelda concert tickets (in an hour, maybe?) - potential follow-up job interview (tbd) - wife has a nerve block procedure tomorrow - normal work stuff in between all this trying to hang in there 150
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I'm 99% sure we get it this year, but whether that means first week of October or last week of December is anybody's guess. 100
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I always enjoy online slightly more than I think I do ... ... it just has to be the right kind of game. Short, casual online matches (as an extra bonus to a strong single player mode) are the way to win me over. 120
GameCube Jake @gamecubejake.bsky.social · 30/09/2026The chapter 7 arena battle was intense ... took me a few tries! Very satisfying to finally pull off. #FireEmblem #FortunesWeave 040
