Absolutely correct, and this is not said anywhere near enough. Brexit was Cameron's cynical, cowardly attempt at Tory Party management which exploded in all of our faces. Then after the vote, Tory Party management was still the main priority, not the country's future. This cannot be forgotten.

The UK’s defence and intelligence infrastructure is dependent on the US. It’s really important to remember that. A Trump hissy fit could leave us massively, suddenly and dangerously exposed. That explains a lot of the UK government’s current positioning. Other European countries are not so exposed.
