How did we implement the ambiences for Big Walk? @nicholaszhangaudio.bsky.social manually drew poly lines for all the different biomes and rivers, and built tools to detect shorelines and scatter positions. Most of it is done before the game even runs, and then we just blend between stored values!

I didn’t think 6 years later the Demon’s Souls remake would still be in the Top 3 games I would suggest someone pick up if their thinking about getting a PS5. It’s a great remake but it says more about how PS5 exclusives panned out than the strength of that launch title.

Finally finished a playthrough of Fire Emblem: Three Houses just in time for the release of Fortune’s Weave this week. I mostly liked Three Houses but the pacing of the calendar stat and relationship grind was not my favourite.

If anyone can figure out how to make the instagram filter look make sense it’s gonna be Remedy. Just like they proved Raytracing worked with good art direction in Control after it underwhelmed in Battlefield V. But right now it just reminds me of the dead end Stadia “Style Transfer” from GDC2019.

This is true. I used to have to go to weird B2B retailers to buy signal converter boxes that I probably wasn’t supposed to own as an individual, made by a company literally called BlackMagic. It was a deal with the devil and I accepted the terms.

I think so. There is nothing very gruesome or suggestive. There is some implied violence but it’s all depicted with “puppets”. You can ask for a hint at any time, so you don’t need to get stuck pixel hunting for clues. The ending is a bit intense but comparable to recent animated movies.

I recommend playing Tangle Tower first since there are some nice payoffs. Maybe play Curse of the Swamp too if you want the full story though that game has some annoying bugs.
