Finally finished a playthrough of Fire Emblem: Three Houses just in time for the release of Fortune’s Weave this week. I mostly liked Three Houses but the pacing of the calendar stat and relationship grind was not my favourite.

I’m just assuming the Spy Party booth has PAX tenure at this point.

If anyone can figure out how to make the instagram filter look make sense it’s gonna be Remedy. Just like they proved Raytracing worked with good art direction in Control after it underwhelmed in Battlefield V. But right now it just reminds me of the dead end Stadia “Style Transfer” from GDC2019.

Lol to this audio calibration warning in Rhythm Heaven. Nintendo has a history of being dissatisfied with people being able to play their games on screens they don’t control.

I got it. Olan Rogers near impossible accomplishment of self shipping the only ending to his TV Series that the WB lawyers would allow. He couldn’t: - Work with a publisher - Use a crowdfunding platform - Sell on any website he didn’t own - Release more than one instalment - Release Digitally

It’s cool how much the cutscenes in Star Fox change based on route and the objectives. Even the credits change a little based on the route.

Unlike Nintendo’s new pricing scheme, Rockstar is charging the full $109.99 CDN for the digital versions.

The N64 version of Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine kind of rocks? It feels more polished than the PC version. It borrows a bunch of design from Ocarina of Time for UX. It was developed by Factor 5 but bizarrely only released on the Lucasarts store and Blockbuster.

Toy Story 5 can feel like a bunch of the shorts jammed together and it’s opinions about tech less nuanced than 007 First Light but it’s still pretty fun and heartfelt. Andrew Stanton proves he can still wrangle together a solid film when it’s not about Mars and Men.

Holy crap the Scarlet Deer Inn demo is not just gorgeous, it has a fantastically compelling gameplay and story arc. This is near of top of my most anticipated games now.

I went into the Star Wars popup at Shibuya. It had a nice entrance hall. But I’m not paying 5000¥ for a Star Wars anime logo T-Shirt. So I mostly came out of it with Game Boy Camera photo opportunities.

I love that Titanium Court detected I performed an unrecoverable action and broke the 4th wall to say that I should probably roll back to my last autosave.
Screenshot of Titanium Court showing a cat character saying "Wait! Great Queen! Your last save precedes this comical blunder. If you quit and reload right now, you can reverse your mistake!"

And a tooltip explaining exactly how to reload the autosave.

#randomgamssaturday General Store™️ is a 1988 edutainment game for the Atari ST where you played as Bentley Bar stocking and selling items at his store while staving off the big box retail next door. My questionable strat was pricing up the cake when the rotund lady entered the store.

Happy with the custom dress I made Bulma in #TomodachiLife
Screenshot from Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream of the close of view of a Mii based on Bulma from Dragon Ball with blue hair tied into a pony tail and a custom pink dress outfit that has the word Bulma emblazoned on the chest.

An info panel describes Bulma Brief as having relationships with Captain Haddock, Asterix and Carmen Sandiego.

#RandomGameSaturday Bill Nye: The Science Guy - Stop The Rock is a 1996 edutainment point & click FMV puzzle game where you need to convince a computer to destroy a meteorite by solving its riddles in various themed science labs. Honestly pretty good for an educational kids game.

Life is Strange: Reunion sticks the landing. The Double Exposure plot threads are a little messy and the plot beats don’t reach the heights of the series but the core Max and Chloe relationship is so well handled and acted that if this is the end they went out on a high point.
Screenshot of Life is Strange: Reunion featuring Max Caulfield on the verge of tears staring into the eyes of Chloe Price who is comforting her.

Max and Chloe relationship is great. I can't imagine playing this if you chose the Save Chloe ending in the original. They've retconned the comic series but it was clearly an inspiration for what happened in the decade between.

Not a lot of people seem to be playing LiS: Reunion. The likely final game in the series (RIP Deck Nine). They’ve dropped the episode format so it’s hard to tell how far I am. It kind of feels like the extended missing finale episode of Double Exposure. But I am enjoying the indulgence.

Damn, this stereotypical Final Fantasy wizard has my number.
Cropped image from the Altair throne room in Final Fantasy 2 Pixel Remaster. The protagonist Firion stands in front of a wizard. The speech bubble showing the dialog says "You? Blow up the Dreadnought? You couldn't blow your way out of a cloth sack."

Oh wait actually. It might have been completing the trip in Cross Country Canada. There is a good chance I completed that on the Elementary School computers before we got the hand-me-down Atari ST.

Post the first game you actually completed. I’m not sure Bentley Bear’s General Store for the Atari ST had a complete state. But I’m pretty sure I unlocked every product, outmaneuvered the evil department store next door and figured out the cake meta.

Sometimes I think about how crazy it is that Last Action Hero exists, made by the actual people who made the real 80s action movies. A decade later we’d just have the Friedberg and Seltzer barely a parody trash.

Mmm Photo Mode.
Screenshot of Ghost of Yotei taken in Photo Mode during a storm. 32:9 aspect ratio captures Atsu in Armour of the Undying. She is midway through sheathing her sword.

Dark skies in the background as a lighting bolt streaks its way horizontally above Atsu, seeming to emanate from the Shamisen instrument of her back.
