The 80s superhero would be a gritty look (a bit like Hellblazer). At the moment I’m just looking for portfolios so I can shortlist suitable candidates :-)

GALACTIC - Queer Sci-Fi Comic @galacticcomic.com · 07/02/2026

Yes I’ll send a set of character descriptions of all main characters :-)

GALACTIC - Queer Sci-Fi Comic @galacticcomic.com · 07/02/2026

Thanks for the message. Both stories are very different and I’ll be asking shortlisted artists to pick 3 characters from the story they would like to work on. I’m open minded to the style - I prefer to see what people come up with based on the character and overall story descriptions.

GALACTIC - Queer Sci-Fi Comic @galacticcomic.com · 07/02/2026

I’ll be paying for the shortlisted designs :-) Last time I did this I selected 5 artists to do paid character designs

GALACTIC - Queer Sci-Fi Comic @galacticcomic.com · 07/02/2026

Thanks!! I’ll be asking for 3-4 characters that the shortlisted candidates can pick from the writers descriptions. Whoever is chosen finally for each story will work with the artist on final designs.

GALACTIC - Queer Sci-Fi Comic @galacticcomic.com · 07/02/2026

That will be up to you. I’d prefer character designs for main characters and maybe a scene for final decision (all paid for). But first I’m only interested in portfolios :-)

GALACTIC - Queer Sci-Fi Comic @galacticcomic.com · 07/02/2026

Hey. Thanks for reaching out. At the moment I’m just looking for portfolios and samples. I’ll then shortlist potential artists and then we will talk re: designs. I’d be looking for initial sketches then more detail (I’ll be paying for both)

This is timely. I wrote the idea of this when Roe was overturned three years ago. It's about two women escaping from being trafficked by a patriarchal empire for the things they have in their bodies. Topical.

Happy Sunday!! We are working through the glorious submissions for GALACTIC. There’s genuinely enough great work for several anthologies - thank you! A shortlist of 12 has been made and now it’s a case of whittling them down to the final 5 (maybe 6…). We’ll be contacting people from 6th February.

031

GALACTIC - Queer Sci-Fi Comic @galacticcomic.com · 08/01/2025

Submissions are now closed! We are so happy (and overwhelmed ) by the response. We had about 3 times the amount we were expecting. It’s going to be very hard to choose BUT I think we have enough for a second bunch later in the year as well if all goes well as the quality of so many was so high!

you must know it's me, your man, joe. i make big transgender character-driven scifi comics and stories about fearsome machines and boys to match 🔞 emphasis on light, time, holes, and sex. 198x.love SUPERPOSE (2016-present) superposecomic.com BIRTH OF THE SUN (soon)

three people standing huddled close together, holding onto each other, lit up by harsh red light against a dark expanse behind them, with vague far-off light in the distance. faraway galaxies moving further from us is determined by visible light emissions shifting to red as wavelengths stretch in an expanding universe.

a sketch done in Clip Studio, a program i hadn't tried until a couple days ago so i'm still feeling it out. featuring a long baby (not literally a long baby, but a tall adult) from my online comic SUPERPOSE. a person from the shoulders up with their back toward us, the high sun casting hard shadows behind their head and down. in front of both of us are gentle waves blown toward us on a teal blue sea, with more landmass emerging low from the lazy fog in the distance. their wet black hair is tousled, sticky and half-dried by the crisp and salty breeze. the back of their white work jumpsuit is emblazoned with "PORT CITY" (KINGFISHER QUAY)

a comic page featuring royal romanenko from SUPERPOSE running in the rain to the doors of his father's lab. he stumbles as he takes off one of the heels he's been forced to wear, the other lying broken on the ground behind him. he throws his whole weight against the glass door before opening it, rushing inside, taking out his earrings, and sweeping his hand over the buttons on a workstation.

the illustrated cover of part 1 of the comic BIRTH OF THE SUN. jack is standing almost silhouetted on a rocky hilltop as light shines through the window between two boulders, with clouds billowing up into the dark sky.
