I was _just_ talking about it with @bytesandpeaks.bsky.social and now I see this post must be a sign to RIIR my blog.

off-topic, but you have a very beautiful blog.

try some contact cleaner, or wd-40 if you can't find it how did you even manage to get plastic to rust

arto @gahr.io · 25/02/2025

you didn't need to mention the last part, that's just a fact of life at this point good luck

arto @gahr.io · 25/02/2025

just curious, how much time did it take you to get to an okay state the last time?

I just got a Leuchtturm1917 notebook for myself as an EDC, if you've got any tips on how best to utilize these I'd appreciate it if you could share

my current outlook on my own work: @ak47.io built "the champagne of beta embedded databases" I'm building the walmart discount wine of database-ish things ... a start's a start.

it means much to me that you remember why you followed me lol thanks for your input <3

alert fatigue is so real, seen important stuff get ignored bc of it too many times

What do you think about eventual relevantness of Bluesky vs. Twitter? My friends recommended Twitter saying the tech community is more active there, much more cool people etc. But the platform itself is cancerous, I can't

Marcan did some research and it looks like a bad hot fix job: social.treehouse.systems/@marcan/1139... Tbf it's so sloppy it almost looks like an attacker compromised the supply chain for pixel updates and wanted to test their hypothesis

So there's a bunch of noise going around a sneaky forced Google Pixel 4a update that seems to cripple batteries... and this is quite interesting. Old kernel: ``` Linux version 4.14.302-g6ff6ddc33f7d...

Dang, I was just starting the parent process :( let's share the royalties

arto @gahr.io · 30/01/2025

In the process I had a genious brain fart: empty filament spools are perfect for storing tree LED strings, in a way it won't be a hell to untangle!

What book(s) would you recommend to someone just starting to read books? Currently finishing the Dune trilogy.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, AI wasn't used to write the code, just good old brain cells.

By no means it's a "production-ready" "product", but I learned a lot along the way, and that was the point. Feel free to share comments / suggestions on my botchy code :) Next project in Pingcap's talent plan seems to be Synchronous client-server networking, excited!

Finally done with the log-structured persistent key/value store database thingy that I was writing, featuring "proper" error handling, automatic data compaction, `cargo doc` documentation, lib+bin structure and (not really much) more. Using Rust, naturally (\/)(°,,,°)(\/)

What's the point in preserving privacy that way? 1) as you said, the data is publicly available anyway, that does not stop anyone 2) breaching their privacy _is the point_

I get your point but 95% of LinkedIn is just straight stage 4 cancer material

Instax Wide gang here, we just get our cartridges off FB Marketplace for cheap 😬 We have the camera though, not the printer. Best usecase for us is as a random gift machine, the cost doesn't matter considering the happiness it brings to people when they receive it.

Fatih "The Lamp Guy" Arslan ... I get it though, it's very beautiful

I get it, but doesn't it itself distract you from the eye contact?

... why though?

video on homelabs when? obligatory connextras about cable organisation

Thank you! I'll check it out. I'm looking for people to interact with too, though. Basically trying to fill my feed with rust, osdev, low-level hw, kernel stuff etc.

any recommendations for finding those kind of people here on bluesky? or is there a better platform?
