Recent #Vinyl Additions, Day 284: ABC, Abracadabra. On the downward tail of their career, ABC released this pleasant pop-dance experiment. The deep cuts are better than the singles, imo. And the cover art remains a mystery. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #musicsky #vinyloftheday

Recent #Vinyl Additions, Day 283: Melissa Etheridge, Brave and Crazy. As solid a sophomore album as you're likely to hear. There's something soothing about the rasp in her voice to me, and she uses it to full effect here. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #musicsky #vinyloftheday

We have to prepare for the day when Donald Trump will permanently leave the White House. And, even more importantly, the day after that.

Recent #Vinyl Additions, Day 282: Melissa Etheridge, Self-Titled. The way that I love “Bring Me Some Water” borders on the fanatic. The whole album is brilliant, but THAT SONG. It's a level of genius we rarely have in rock. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #musicsky #vinyloftheday

Recent #Vinyl Additions, Day 281: Erasure, The Neon. Their most recent record, it feels like a love letter to fans…reminiscent of their greatest hits, but reflective of a modern, contemporary production sensibility. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #musicsky #vinyloftheday

Recent #Vinyl Additions, Day 280: Erasure, Tomorrow’s World. Deeply underrated album with some truly stellar deep cuts. “Then I Go Twisting” is a masterpiece, “I Lose Myself” and “A Whole Lotta Love Run Riot” also make me deliriously happy. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords

Boykin: The Republicans control the entire government. They control the white house. They control the house. They control the senate. They control six of the nine seats on the supreme court. If you're not happy with the way the country is running America, blame the Republicans.

The #Survivor hate from #bb28 fans belies the fact that no one else is playing well. While Melody screamed and pouted, while Drew vacillated, while Yash took comprising bribes, while Barrett moaned and hid, and while Taylor flat-out slept, Devens put on a master class, and Dee used Jedi mind tricks.

HUGE: Elizabeth Warren, AOC, and other members of Congress have introduced a bill to push private equity out of healthcare. The Stop Corporate Takeovers of Physicians Act would make it illegal for private equity, insurance companies, and for-profit corporations to own or control medical practices.

Recent #Vinyl Additions, Day 279: Erasure, Loveboat. One of my favorite bands, one of my least favorite albums by them. It’s not bad; the pieces are there, but it seems disjointed, awry. Interesting to me when it DOESN’T all come together. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylrecords #vinyloftheday

This, I believe, will be the most Important legacy of the Trump Administration, ultimately: the end of decency, accountability and shame. It will require a mountain of new laws to fortify ethics that used to be givens. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/14/w...

The saddest of the many sad things at this year’s #USOpen might be realizing that Shelton has become a player I don’t enjoy. He’s smug now, and a bit mean. Attacking the umpire repeatedly, cheering the mistakes of his opponents. In a field of brimming with admirable competitiors, it’s a shame.

Recent #Vinyl Additions, Days 277 and 278: Earth, Wind & Fire, Powerlight and Electric Universe. Both albums came out in 1983, when the band was trying to keep pace with trends. To me, both sound sad, a remembrance of former glory. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #vinyloftheday

I’ve struggled with this. I find it impossible to listen to Morrissey or MJ anymore, to watch Mamet plays or Taylor Sheridan shows, even though I enjoyed them in the before times. I can’t separate the art from the person. I have to enjoy artists who are decent folk, and making art I need.

Recent #Vinyl Additions, Day 276: Earth, Wind & Fire, Spirit. Some of their funkiest (”Saturday Nite,” “Getaway”) kick off a rich, textured set. Philip Bailey is divine; Verdine White again proves he is one of the great bass players of all time. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords

Dolly taught us that joy, respect and kindness can be assets for success, especially when we marry them to values and decency. She stood up for the people she loved, without any thought for herself. I wonder if we'll ever have a figure this beloved on the right and the left again. #DollyParton
