The Stardust Mutual Aid Collective is becoming the Stardust Foundation, a 501 (c)(?) organization focused on launching Stardust Sanctuary — an intentional land project for trans and queer people, led by QTBIPOC individuals. We're seeking fiscal sponsorship while we work on our non-profit status.

My 10-year-old smirked as they reached for my phone to play their “Italian Brain Rot” playlist over the car stereo. “A duel?” I offered. They accepted; I made them look up and read out loud Gertrude Stein’s “Tender Buttons,” followed by the years of publication. “ You win,” they conceded.

Under fascism, no one is safe. Universities stayed quiet as the admin targeted DEI & foreign aid, censored research, etc. Now, they face devastating cuts to indirect cost rates, threatening research & operations. Silence won’t protect institutions. It won’t protect people; it never does.

Here is a script you can use for any issue. Find your reps' # at reps.fyi or 5calls.org. Every time you see a news story that horrifies you: call, or something else about it. It matters to say what you believe. You are setting a norm.

Hi, my name is [NAME], I'm a constituent in [ZIP CODE]. I'm calling because I saw that [TERRIBLE THING] is happening. I think this is appalling. [PERSONAL STORY, if you have one.] I want you to do everything you can to stop this. I will remember your actions when I cast my next vote. Thank you.

If we could harness rationalization as energy, every time a Republican invokes Jesus or the Bible to justify deportations, erase trans people, or protect fetal personhood over women’s lives, we could remediate global warming in a week.

The United States Military Academy has just eliminated all Cadet clubs and activities for POC. Most of these have existed for decades like the Society of Black Engineers. They were there when I was a Cadet in 1987. All of the religious ones remain. This isn’t DEI. It’s white Christian Nationalism.

A memo listing all of the clubs eliminated by USMA.

We mean this as factually as it is. There are 5 core problems hard-baked into the post-colonized U.S.: whiteness, cisgender patriarchy, money, and power. Every bit of suffering in this country is caused by the twining of one or more of those elements—just the facts. It's best to let it burn down.

The image shows an animated character with red wings and spiky red hair, crouching in an action pose. They are wearing arm bands and a dark outfit, with a determined expression on their face. The background appears to depict a futuristic cityscape with tall buildings and flying vehicles, and there are weapons or objects pointing towards the character, adding a dynamic and intense atmosphere.

It doesn't seem unreasonable to start planning: buy land in sanctuary states, build structures, create food plots, generate solar energy, and train community watches. No Starbucks, no Amazon, Walmart, Target. Am I alone in thinking this could work as a national strategy? Am I crazy?

000

The Stardust Mutual Aid Collective @gabrielstardust.bsky.social · 27/01/2025

What do I mean? Aside from divesting from the Old World, it's time for a national-level plan to create safer zones for trans* (a significant umbrella term) folx and strategies to get people there. These safe zones can divest from fascist capitalism and create self-sufficient communities.

000

The Stardust Mutual Aid Collective @gabrielstardust.bsky.social · 27/01/2025

All of it is key. The "lofty rhetoric" phase keeps us from spiraling; it's a collective public processing of trauma. I have always operated from several clicks in the future, and I am pressed to say it's time to act. I long for a national trans voice to emerge to coordinate a plan.

000

The Stardust Mutual Aid Collective @gabrielstardust.bsky.social · 27/01/2025

We're in the "lofty rhetoric" phase of our collective response to Trump's shock and awe. I see so many brilliant explanations of what we're experiencing (hyper-normalization) and poetic cries for hope ("Spread power, not panic!" "We will continue to do x or y!").

000

The Stardust Mutual Aid Collective @gabrielstardust.bsky.social · 27/01/2025

I know we're all drawn to the darkness right now. My feeds are bursting with the "shock and awe" fallout. RuPaul advised that it's okay to look at the darkness for a bit but not long enough to get sucked in. We must create to survive this--spaces, art, music, community, food.
