Reading the news, it would be easy to believe that the Green Party has adopted a policy to expel its Jewish members, prevent them from attending synagogue or at the very least scrutinise their activities outside the party. *None of that has happened* 🧵

In their defense, it's only named that in tribute to a much older W40k game from the late 90's with broadly x-com like gameplay. It also for some reason stars one of the more obscure and inaccessible human factions, when an x-com clone would work for basically any W40k faction.

Begging Hollywood to A: Stop smearing medieval films in mud and shit to make yanks feel more comfy. B: Stop making garbage films about the local folk hero. How tf was the last Hollywood director to get it right Mel Brooks. You could make a great film about the peasants revolt with some effort.

AI has lost the Mandate of Heaven I’m afraid. WSJ saying it’s a “when” the ai bubble bursts. SNL dabbing on their biggest names for being weird. FT says 50% of chips sold in 2026 and 2027 have nowhere to go. Hundreds of billions short on revenue for even 10% ROIC. A disaster.

It's a direct sequel to the fairy tale episode from Season 1, which was a sentient nebula recreating M'Benga's bedtime story. This time there's a small flat landmass floating in space and all the fairy tale characters are on it, and remember the last episode. This is handwaved before the credits.

It's been immensely disappointing, this week especially there were so many points where the exposition just went "ssh, don't worry about it." The cgi dragon came out of nowhere and wasn't worth however many millions it cost. Whatever happens next, I beg that they hire sci-fi instead of tv writers.

the only threats "AI" poses to society are when people put it in charge of things that require thought, or crash the economy over it, or destroy the environment to power it. but it's people doing all of those things. AI poses zero threat by itself as it cannot do anything due to not existing

What a fucking failure that show was. All the great writers left sometime around S2, the S3 finale was cancelled so they could wheelspin for two more seasons, and in the end all was in service of was more gross outs, more toilet humour and setting up spinoffs no one will watch. Shat the bed mate.

The front page from a booklet entitled "Warhammer Battle for Skull Pass" that came with a starter set of the same name. The image is in all BOLD colours, primarily bright, firey reds and yellows. On it, two opposing armies of miniatures, Dwarves and Goblins, face each other in GLORIOUS COMBAT. The bases are still edged in green, that's how you know it was TOP NOTCH.

Happy Labor Day! Today we're bringing you The First Union, as told by HBomberguy (@hbomberguy.bsky.social) and illustrated by Skutch (@skutchdraws.bsky.social) It's the dawn of the industrial revolution, and of the way many of us work... Have you ever heard of the term "Luddite" from an elder?
Stanhill, Lancashire, 1764. Wear and carpenter James Hargreaves invents the Spinning Jenny, the first practical spinning-frame, to make the tedious task of producing cloth a little bit faster. He doesn't know it yet, but this will destroy the world.

Spurred by inventions like his, the industrial revolution will transform everything -- work power, the wealth of nations. Society as we know it began here, and it wasn't great for everyone. But a group of weavers and textile workers saw this future coming. And did their best to prevent it."Curse you spinning jenny, you ruined everything!" The standard narrative does that LUDDITES were foolish lunatics who, in fear of technology, decided progress was bad, and started hitting it with sticks. But the truth is entire ways of life were being destroyed.

Previously, skilled craftsmen were respected for the time and effort it took to do their work. The entire family usit would form a cottage industry - creating something valuable, and command a decent living. But when a machine can work 10 times faster its owner can charge less for the prodcts- craftsmen couldn't compete and were left out of work almost overnight.

And as factories became a fixture of the british landscape, these now unemployed labourers often ended up working the factories that had just destroyed their way of life. Britain was the most prosperous nation in history, factory owners became extremely wealthy and influential. But the people doing the actual work saw almost none of it.
Factory work paid little, since "the machines" did "the real work" human labourers were deemed unimportant and replaceable. FUN FACT!: Factory owners preferred to hire ORPHANS since less people would notice if they were maimed or killed on the job!

Now the owners quickly realized the workers might notice they did all the work for almost no pay. If they went on STRIKE or ARGUED FOR HGHER WAGES, this would threaten their tremendous wealth. In 1799, Parliament passed the Combination Act, which made FORMING TRADE UNIONS, COLLECTIVE BARGAINING, AND GOING ON STRIKE ILLEGAL. Organizing against the rich became a crime. If you were living through it, opposing the industrial revolution wasn't techno-phobia. It was SELF-DEFENSE. The combination act forced unions underground into secret societies. And the greatest secret of all was their leader - Ned Ludd. Ned had been a folk character for years. In one version after being whipped by his master, he smashed two knitting frames in a rage. In more fanciful versions, he then escaped to the Sherwood forest, here he lived among the animals as their king. Some versions specifically call him 'Much Better Than Robin Hood'.

A four-panel meme based on the "Who must go?" Format.

In the first panel, Ricky and Elliot from Internet Today, with Trump, Infantino and a disintegrating red card in the background. The text beneath them reads "England must lose!"

In the second panel, a picture of former Syran dictator Bashir Al-Assad with his hand to his ear, but his head replaced with that of Harry Kane. Caption: "Who must lose?"

Third panel: two football scores superimposed next to each other. The first is England's 3-2 victory over Mexico, the second is USMNT's 4-1 defeat to Belgium.

The fourth and final panel is the image of a man squatting next to a grave making a provocative "v" hand gesture, with the USMNT logo on the grave and Harry Kane's smiling face replacing the man's head.

Just a few hours left of June, but heatwave be damned it is done! Inspired by @cerberusxt.bsky.social 's Gate Crushers, our final knight in the Pride Knight squadron is Asexual Pride. #warhammer #pride #warhammerpainting #miniaturepainting #fantasy #oldworld #warhammercommunity #wargaming
A Warhammer miniature depicting an armoured knight mounted on a warhorse.

The knight is clad in medieval style armour, with a helmet ornamented with the figure of a black boar with a sword piercing its back. The knight wields a lance in one hand and a shield in the other.

The heraldry on the shield the knight wears, which is replicated on the flanks of the caprison worn by the warhorse, is a field of equal parts purple and gray, divided diagonally by a white line. Atop the field, a black boar's head.

Everything the knight and his horse wears is a repeat of the black, purple, white and gray of the heraldry on the shield. The lance is also purple, with a pennant of white and gray affixed below the tip. On the base of the miniature, the warhorse is trotting through a grassy field strewn with small rocks and wild flowers.

Next to the miniature, superimposed over the image with a photo editing tool, is an example of the Asexual pride flag for comparison to the heraldry on the miniature.Side view of the same Warhammer miniature, allowing the viewer to see the details obscured from the front. The main thing which was not visible is that the knight is wearing a smaller tilting shield on the lance arm, which is more explicitly painted in the pattern of the Asexual Pride flag. It is also clear that one side of the horse's caprison is quartered, with equal parts purple and grey on each flank.Five Warhammer miniatures next to each other, each an armoured knight on a warhorse.

The leftmost knight is the figure from earlier, in Asexual colours.

After that, in purple, black, yellow and white is the Non-Binary Knight.

The next figure is painted in the Lesbian Pride colours, and has a helmet with an open faceplate revealing their feminine features, and carries a trumpet in place of a lance.

Next is a knight in purple and yellow, whose heraldy is recognisable as the chevron portion of the Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride flag.

After that is a knight in the colours of the Transgender Pride flag, wielding a large banner in place of a lance. The banner depicts the complete Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride flag.

Finally on the rightmost end of the formation, the Pansexual Pride knight from the previous two images. Each knight has a small corresponding pride flag added in next to them for comparison.

He was on a free too, surely someone was interested who would have started him. And it can't have done his confidence any favours when Sels and Miguel were injured and we immediately went and got Ortegas to avoid starting him. What was the point in us collecting a keeper we had no plan on using?

I also feel like Angus Gunn should not have come to Forest last season, knowing that he would be third (eventually fourth) choice keeper and the WC was coming up. If you're going to be starting for your national team you need some game time, even if it's at a lower level than the PL.

If it helps, I saw a video years ago explaining the reason why a platoon was usually 20-50 people and a company is normally 100-250. Basically a platoon is how many soldiers a single person can manage on a daily basis, and a company is how many a single person can know names and keep track of.

I miss blast templates. Back in the day i'd put fifty guardsman on a movement tray and march them at the enemy, and if enough of them survived to kill a unit with FRFSRF order the opponent had no one to blame but themselves! They were done up like redcoats with a command squad flag and everything!

Warhammer miniature depicting an armoured knight on a warhorse. The knight's helmet has an open face, allowing the viewer to see she is female.

The knight is carrying a shield, depicting a white mace on a background that transitions through four colours, from a medium orange to a light orange, then into a light purple and finally a deep purple. The effect mimics the colours of the Lesbian Pride flag.

Both the knight and the horse are covered in these shades of orange and purple, both on the surcoat worn over the knight's armour and the caprison worn by the horse. In the knight's other hand, she carries a trumpet.Side view of the same Warhammer miniature, which lets us see the trumpet it carries has a small flag hanging from it depicting the Lesbian Pride flag.Three Warhammer miniatures together, starting with the Lesbian Pride knight on the left, a knight in the colours of the Progress Pride flag in the centre, and a knight in the colours of the Trans Pride flag on the right.

There's a little more symbolism with this one. In most versions of Warhammer Fantasy, when a unit is defeated in combat and retreats, the model holding the banner is the first to be destroyed by the victors. Considering everything happening in UK law right now, it seemed an appropriate metaphor.

The second of a series of Pride Knights for Warhammer Fantasy, inspired by the work of @cerberusxt.bsky.social. Tonight, we have the standard bearer. #warhammer #pride #warhammerpainting #miniaturepainting #fantasy #oldworld #warhammercommunity #wargaming
A Warhammer miniature depicting a knight mounted on a warhorse.

The knight is wearing a full set of medieval armour, and carrying a shield with its heraldry. The heraldry is a cyan field with a wide pink stripe crossing diagonally down from the top left corner and a white fleur-de-lys over the top. This symbol is repeated on the armoured flanks of the knight's white warhorse, with the caprison the horse wears quartered in pink and cyan.

The knight's helmet is closed so the face is not visible, however it is ornamented with a carving of a white unicorn on the top. In the dominant hand, the knight is carrying a large flag, also called a banner or a standard. The flagpole is tipped with a large white fluer-de-lys.

The banner itself is recognisable as a slight modification of the intersex-inclusive progress pride flag. Rather than having the chevrons and yellow triangle on one side, they sit centrally in the middle of the banner in the syle of a heraldric shield. the flag billows in the wind with three long streamers flowing behind it, extending the rainbow design.

For purposes of comparison, a small trans pride flag has been superimposed on one side of the photograph. The same Warhammer miniature but from a side view rather than angled towards the front. From this angle it is possible to see that the surcoat worn over the armour is also halved in pink and cyan, and a smaller secondary tilt shield is fixed to the arm holding the banner. The shield replicates the design on the main shield and the flanks of the warhorse. The same miniature placed next to the previous knight in the series, whose shield heraldry is the yellow triangle with purple circle and chevrons which appear in the centre of the banner held by the knight in pink, white and cyan. The primary colours of this other knight are purple and yellow, and it carries a yellow lance with a purple pennant in place of a banner.
