Muday Muday Muday! Anyone copying? Bluesky reporting partial system outage.

Bluesky seems to have a technical hiccup right now so the content service switch in mu.social comes handy. The point is the resilience of the network: when one light goes off you switch on another one, and the the more lights we have, the better.

Anyone interested in verification on social network here are some very valid points being made. There is an increasing push towards ID verification, which is an overreach. Instead, other less intrusive methods are possible and preferable.

Forest in Arran. I am using this image for a test which I shall explain later once I get the permission from the software author. All I am saying right now is that it's a great idea.😜
Misty forest scene with two signs attached to a tree trunk: the top sign reads "VEDAT DE PESCA" (fishing prohibited), and the bottom sign reads "Àrea Recreativa Bassa d’Arres." The background shows dense fog obscuring distant trees and grassy terrain.

Disabled 87 year old forcibly evicted from her home in Madrid, where she lived for over 70 years. New owner changed the rent from 500 to 2.650 € and wanted her out. The fabric of our cities is in the hands of rapacious property developers with the law in on their side. Something needs to change.

@gandersocial.ca and @eurosky.social getting closer isn’t interesting because ATProto suddenly discovered interoperability. It didn’t. What’s interesting is two distinct communities deciding how they want to use it while keeping their own infrastructure, moderation and identity.

Statement released by Canadian @gandersocial.ca about its partnership with @eurosky.social. Gander is also introducing a 900 characters long posts which hopefully @mu.social will also adopt and a verification that won’t require uploading ID. Looking forward to see how the partnership develops.
Gander + Eurosky

We’re partnering with our pals at Eurosky* to work on better ways to find and share news online: with publishers and audiences smack dab in the centre.

We’ve been chatting with them for a while about how we might work together. With all the hubbub around Canada–EU cooperation, this felt like a good time to put the news out into the world.

And we’ve never been much for isolation.

Sovereignty means keeping our infrastructure, data, and community on firm footing at home. It also means we can show up on our own terms to learn from and build with friends in other trusted democracies.

*Eurosky is an independent European initiative building sovereign digital infrastructure and a thriving open social web. Like us, they’re built on the AT Protocol. Sound familiar?

Sovereignty isn’t solitude. It’s solidarity.

A bit of fun here. If you were amongst the first 800,000 that joined Bluesky, there is a Bluesky Elder Label you can enable when you subscribe to @skywatch.blue and select "Show Badge". I would make the badge shiny and add a bit of sparkle, but it's out of my hands.

Testing the transfer app data feature on mu.social. Did not complete but I'm impressed as this should be a default feature on Bluesky. Using third party apps for something so security sensitive is never a good idea and inbuilt is so much better. Kudos to the @eurosky.social team for the integration.

Double verified now😜. There is still a debate how verification should work on Eurosky / Mu.social and that it should not be done through a draconian third party ID submission. Personally I would like an organic approach, verified account acting as guarantor and able to suggest/verify accounts.

Black and white photograph of a dense pine forest, taken from a low path looking up through tall, narrow tree trunks. A large tree trunk dominates the right foreground in shadow, while a fallen log leans diagonally across a mossy slope in the middle distance. Light filters through the canopy in the background, creating strong contrast between the dark foreground and the brighter, hazy woods beyond.

Good Pyrenean homes were built to last. Made with local stone and wood, their external walls were covered in a corse layer of hydraulic plaster and fine finished with a thick layer of lime that would be painted over with ornamental details.
A narrow stone alleyway between traditional Pyrenean mountain village houses. On the left, a weathered pale-cream building with dark wooden shutters and a slate roof; on the right, a rough stone house with a steep slate roof. Forested mountain slopes rise in the background under an overcast sky, with a smaller stone-roofed building visible between the two foreground structures.A weathered wooden barn built into a stone farmhouse, with a slate-roofed dormer housing a plank hayloft door above a rustic wooden double door at ground level. A worn burlap sack hangs from a beam under an open-sided wooden lean-to shelter on the left, with a rough stone wall and foliage visible nearby.
