It might sound silly but my pet theory behind how the eMudhra keys were chosen is that someone stored the key as a char* string and then dereferenced the pointer so they got only the first element when assigning to a std::string.

It's obscene how the mainstream press went along with the French and Italian governments in using reporting on violent events to avoid reporting on the protests themselves. Thing is the issues that triggered those protests didn't magically disappear just because they're not talked about in […]

Today I was wondering about the inefficiency we've built into our everyday computing machinery. After a .NET framework update every Windows machine will run the Native Image Generator, now more commonly known as the .NET Runtime Optimization Service. That is an ahead-of-time compiler that will […]

The angsty teenager upstairs is loudly listening to angsty teenage music which is 100% fair and justified. However, they're listening to '90s angsty teenage music which leaves me somewhat puzzled. Maybe contemporary angsty teenage music sucks? Or they don't make it anymore?

@Captain_Jack_Sparrow this is the typical case where one wonders if the previous valuation was due to criminal behavior by the company (as in actively providing misleading information) or incredibly stupid and gullible investors, and quite frankly I think it's the latter

Everyone, I have a suggestion: New Skill November. #NewSkillNovember

NEW SKILL NOVEMBER

[an art nouveau painting in autumn colors of a woman playing the harp]

LEARN A NEW SKILL OR REBUILD AN OLD ONE; THE ONLY RULE: DO IT YOURSELF, DO NOT USE AI

Sketching, knitting, whittling, a musical instrument, a foreign language, a tricky video game, cooking, weaving, changing oil, riding a bike, painting, pixel art, website design, digital image editing, bookbinding, calligraphy, identifying mushrooms, embroidery, soldering, that one thing you've been putting off

Do the hard part yourself, no matter how imperfect it feels. Learn and internalize how it really works. Consult guides written by human experts, and ask your fellow human beings for help. Take pride in knowledge and abilities that are an intrinsic part of your existence and not dependent on renting from corporations.

Another absolute doozy: The ridiculous sexist attitude towards the series being an action/adventure? No, depicting the same amount of action that was in the original SHOUJO MANGA would not somehow make it a shonen? Women can write action sequences too which is evident in the WORK YOU'RE ADAPTING?

Now if glibc could remove non-UTF-8 behaviors that are obsolete but can still be triggered by mistake. (To get an idea of major distro reality: Ubuntu is young enough to have always defaulted to UTF-8, Red Hat switched in 2002 and Debian, unreasonably late, in 2007.)
