I don't think I've ever seen a cat that so clearly grew into their ears before. And he's probably got some more to grow still! I don't know how much my 2yo weighs, but I fully expected him to keep growing until he turned into a leopard.

Caring for two cats instead of one might be the straw that hastens my eventual exhausted collapse, but this makes it worth it.

The Sara Ahmed excerpt here isn't a perfect match to this situation, but I think it illustrates how "not taking sides" can be a violent choice

The refusal to take sides by treating bullying as a side of an argument that needs to be heard is to side with the bully.

Another woman professor said, “If somebody is being bullied by another member of staff, they don't take sides. They don't go into the situation. They don't look at what's happening. And they don't say, well, if this behavior is unacceptable, this is putting pressure on this person. All they will do is look at the situation and say, your account contradicts your account. I have nothing to do with it.”

Pointing to contradictory accounts is a way of not doing anything. It is a way of not intervening in the situation.

Not taking sides, not intervening, is how bullying is enabled. It is to give bullies a charter to do just what the heck they like. Treating an abusive power as a difference in opinion that can be resolved through informal communication not only operates as a form of damage control; it is, in fact, damaging.

If you cut your own hair and you're ok looking like a dork (but I repeat myself), this really helps -- just used it for the first time today. It doesn't catch every piece of hair, but it kept almost all of it off my body. That's a big deal, especially when it's so humid!! I got it on eBay

I'd like the QOL concerns to be mentioned more, and the warehousing that supports our online orders to be included in that conversation. I find this (photo from Lowell, MA, where I went to elementary school) viscerally upsetting. Warehouses often do the same thing.
