One of the hardest , most emotional rollercoasters, I’ve read this year. Set in the near future it echos a modern history that shook me to my bones. It tackles tough subjects (see warnings) in a compelling story that keeps you hooked. #booksky #indigenous app.thestorygraph.com/reviews/1723...

Five corporations control 90% of the US media. Airlines have merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today. A handful of companies control the pharmaceutical industry. Four giants control 80% of meat processing. The evidence of corporate concentration is everywhere.

Do I like the fact AI is getting thrown all over the place with little forethought? Absolutely not. Do I like that companies are mining other people’s intellectual property for its own gain? Fuck no! Do I understand that if you want to remain relevant you must adapt? Yes. #ai

The use of AI as a skill request for library positions (one of many industries) isn’t surprising. You need to have understanding on how to use it the same way out predecessors had to embrace audiobooks, the emergence of the internet, or the rise of Wikipedia. #ai

Even the man stubbornly fights the man in Australia This is the KFC reaction to a postal worker getting fired after an unauthorised KFC break (other stuff too, but everyone likes a good tale)
OFFICIAL BRAND STATEMENT
Unfortunately, not all scheduled work breaks line-up perfectly with a KFC craving.
While we don't set the schedules, we do know how chicken obsessed our fans can be and that the call for 11 herbs and spices can strike at any time of the day.
To ensure future visits by postal workers are strictly 'official business,'
KFC is immediately posting a bunch of very urgent postcards addressed to...ourselves.
These will be arriving to select local KFC restaurants across the country soon.
The good news for posties - we need you to deliver this essential mail right inside the restaurant. When you do, simply hand the postcard over the counter to a friendly team member, and it is redeemable for a free meal.
Consider it postage paid in chicken.
Kind regards,
KFC

“When I’m done/caught up/old” aren’t things I want to look back into my life’s book and seen written repeatedly. I don’t know if I’ll grow old, the to-do list will always have more on it, and I what/who determines being “done” enough to be allowed to enjoy life.

I know that part of the problem is our society and its lack of universal basic care. I know there’s a ton of hoop jumping in order to get needs met BUT it’s also by their individual choices but past and current.

When did these people who taught that life was meant to be lived completely seemingly forgetting that lesson. That you can balance responsibilities with spending time doing something you enjoy and making memories with people you love.

Sometimes it’s in reference something ‘big’ like a hike I took with my dog or an awesome place I’ve visited. More often than not though it’s about something simple like a book I read, or a movie I watched, or a piece of art I spent some time making.

A lot of people don’t realize the dust bowl wasn’t a natural phenomenon. It happened when agrobusiness interests dramatically transformed the plains without regard for drought, and created vicious dust storms that choked whole families to death. That’s what I think of when I read about data centers.
