Horizon Worlds is currently showing a #VR recording of a Coldplay concert in Wembley, and it’s been really well done, with a variety of camera angles and unique shots that you’d never see from the audience! @futuremeetings.bsky.social checked it out together for… uh… research 😂
Screenshot from the VR concert. You are feet away from Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay, as he walks down the stage and gestures outwards to the audience. A close up behind the piano on stage where Chris Martin is playing and signing. Behind, you can see the packed Wembley stadium. A view from behind the band, as if you are one of the band members looking out at the huge audience. A view of the drummer (presumably Will Champion) in a mask playing as the screen behind explodes in purple and green streaks.

Over the last few months, we've had a few #TFOM trips to #VR concerts in #Meta Horizon Worlds - the latest was #Coldplay 🙌 The technology behind this has gotten so impressive, and it's amazing to be able to watch concerts with friends around the world 🎊🎶 Highly recommend checking them out!

New asteroid grain trading cards created by JAXA curation! @futuremeetings.bsky.social submitted the suggestion for the “collaboration” card, under the code name, Celery Penn! The grain resembles holding hands, with text “we are always stronger when we work together, even when we’re worlds apart”.

Went to a K-pop concert for NCT DREAM which had been recorded in 3D for #VR! It was hosted on Horizons, so you could go with friends (in this case, @futuremeetings.bsky.social buddies!) and while it’s obviously different to a billion people concert, it’s a front row seat and great social experience!
Snap from the concert. On the stage immediately in front of my virtual seat is the seven-member boy band NCT DREAM, dancing to one of their numbers. Another front row seat view. The band are silhouetted against the stage lights as the song ends.

In 2020, our final #TFOM day's theme was #Future, which focused especially on where we might be heading next when it came to the future of #meetings and #interaction 🗺️ For our #TFOM5YL Future post, we'd like to invite you to express interest in a still-forming plan for an event series in 2026 🙌

For the “Tomorrow” theme of #TFOM5YL, we’d like to highlight just a few of the awesome groups/platforms we've been fortunate enough to cross paths with over the last five years and link to their great work! 🌍 Check them out 🙌

Always enjoy our @futuremeetings.bsky.social adventures into #VR - especially the beautiful worlds of @walkaboutminigolf.bsky.social! By far the biggest advantage of #immersive tech that we've found in #TFOM is the ability to be *together* with others, whether for social or work!

Struggles with travel are unlikely to abate, whether from pandemics, fuel prices, or political unrest due to your country electing a narcissistic squash. This is why @futuremeetings.bsky.social keeps exploring practices and technologies like VR that could really connect us when it matters the most.

When using VR for scientific events with @futuremeetings.bsky.social, we've found a key component for success is #BeyondBeingThere: don't try to mirror the in-person experience but leverage the online space to show full-sized interactable models, or hold discussions on an asteroid.

Last year was a really busy year for us, especially in the #astronomy world 🔭 Two major #TFOM activities involved partnering with @astrosocaus.bsky.social on #ASA2024 and @astronomy2024.bsky.social on #IAUGA2024, and we have just had our findings released publicly 🙌
The TFOM team in avatar form posing in Spatial on top of the 3D ASA logo, designed by Emma Rehn and made into a 3D logo by Elizabeth Tasker. The logo considers of the letters A, S and A (for Astronomical Society of Australia), where the letters are decorated with artwork showing the ASKAP radio antenna, simulations of particle showers and the AAT 4m telescope. A blended image where the top image is the in-person TFOM members sitting in front of the physical blue shaded IAU GA logo in Cape Town, and the bottom image includes the full TFOM team posing in Spatial, in front of and on top of the same logo reproduced in digital 3D by Aidan Hotan. The logo consists of the letters IAU GA 2024, with a colourful banner beneath, sponsor logos and the hashtag #astronomy2024.

My favourite group in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD are kicking off their Bluesky account properly, with trials and tribulations of experimenting with tech for successful online meetings, events and collabs. Now more than ever, we need to be together, even when we’re apart 🌏.
