If anything, his version of decorative items would be the paint stains in places they shouldn't be, charcoal smudges scattered wherever he touched last, that random coffee stain on a shirt he's worn three days in a row, and an old hair tie he's kept for years after borrowing it from his mother.(≖⩊≖)

I chose the one where a man ignores perfectly good advice, enters the woods, loses a fight with the local foliage, starts bleeding, and immediately questions his life choices beside a creek. Yep! Through the brush he could see the clearing awaiting his presence as he pressed onward, finally breaking free from the clutches of the forest’s natural growth. He crawled forward as the moon’s light slipped free from the clouds and illuminated the clearing. He inhaled shakily, breathing deeply as he stared down at the back of his hands, watching drops of blood soak into the thirsty ground. Feeling the sharp throb under his eye, he approached the creek – the area still as much untouched by human influence – and settled by the waters’ edge.

He cupped his hand under the cool stream and splashed his face with the water in an attempt to clean the wound as he blindly reached into his satchel for his handkerchief, not caring in the least if the blood stain could be removed or not in the future. Pressing the silken cloth against the cut beneath his eye, he sat back on his heels and sighed.

Today my friends forced me outside to "mingle with reality." There was food, cold drinks, sunshine, and the horrors of sweat and humidity. It was kind of fun I guess. I also spotted a creature I've never seen before hiding in the grass! Who am I? What is this? I didn't write at all! Σ(°ロ°) #creature

It seems to be a small brown lizard with an orange mouth peeking through bright green grass beside an orange object.

Discovered during a rare expedition outside of my writing corner.

Appears tiny, with round black eyes and a very suspicious scuttle. I don't know what it's called, but it seems to know exactly what it's supposed to be.

It's far better adapted to humidity than I am.

First time participating in #WIPSnips! Only two uses of the word "tube" in my manuscript and I happily chose this one... Well, "happily" may not have been the correct adverb to use when choosing the "tube" that escalated into family photos and emotional complications. (ᵕ—ᴗ—) #amwriting #WriteSky

The photo her eyes landed on was taken a few weeks after Rein’s birth – his face was as small as the rest of his body, swaddled in a lightly coloured blanket as he was held in someone’s arms. Tiny fingers curled against his face as the young Rein slept, and the small cotton knot tied on top his head couldn’t hide some of his curly black hair from peeking along the edges. There was a thin tube inserted into one nostril, and with it she spied other cables leading away from the blanket, trailing beyond the edges of the photograph.

The girls explained that their grandfather, who was holding Rein in this photo, was too shy to show his face at the time; just moments before it’d been taken, he’d been crying – that image captured was the first time he’d ever been able to touch the boy at all. As the girls giggled and continued onto another picture on the page where a young Soren tearfully held his baby brother in his arms on a couch at ‘home’, Biju found herself lost in thought.

She felt puzzled – and strangely jealous.

I have to keep reminding my ML that he IS the protagonist and should be DOING something (like participating in life). He has vetoed me twice, refuses to budge from his stool, and my only saving grace is that my FL is my secret weapon because he "likes" her. (ꐦ • ᴗ •) He still denies it. #writing
