the thing about bus lines is that they still use roads and cars are on those

otherwise yeah they're basically the same they're just IRC software

Phoenix @funwithnix.bsky.social · 7h

Discord actually launched in 2015 with a feature that Slack didn't have (voice chats/calls) which is why it replaced IRC/XMPP clients for a lot of groups by allowing their VOIP and text based chats to be housed under the same software, which Slack didn't do until 2022

I also learned that for probably like 150 of these it was sending my entire discord friends list a push notification every day that I had changed my pfp without me knowing it was doing that, which is really funny

Phoenix @funwithnix.bsky.social · 12h

I have been doing this bit of a new pfp with her face for one year's worth of days now. I don't really know why I kept going after like 100 days but here we are

It somehow doesn't do this by making Marie Antoinette gay or the obviously gay woman near her gay for her it does it by making the gay bishounen woman comphet so hard for a commoner man that it topples the monarchy

Design philosophy is nice and all but I'd like to know what's in the damn game not what you were dreaming about on a random tuesday while thinking about maybe making the game

100

Phoenix @funwithnix.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

I also don't like that because everything is developer podcasts now and other such things, it's all way less compact and the information delivery is dogshit because those people are not professional communicators or being trained by professional communicators with talking points now

🟠 innocence lost

illustration of my original character, boris velasco
he stares directly at the viewer with a bright orange glow in his eyes, dark hair blowing in the wind. he wears a light blue pajamas, and holds out his hands to cup a single, faint glow of a butterfly.
Around him flock dozens of ravenous crows, sharing the same menacing glow in their eyes. they are all aimed for what is in his hands at full speed.

Description:
This illustration pertains to much of Boris' character in general. His succumb to hopelessness, seeking power instead of love, losing his innocence and his whimsy.
The frail butterfly symbolizes what remains of his inner child (this is also why Boris likes Aiden, who i also associated with butterflies, because he subconsciously reminds Bo of who he used to be) and the crows are the jaded violence he has been taught to use to feel less small. By habit, they seek to destroy any traces of incorruption - because what if it makes him the weak one again?

What's this even automating? Spending the police budget?

020

Phoenix @funwithnix.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

It's even dumber because a statically placed ALPR like Flock can nominally enforce some forms of traffic law by being able to "see" red light violations, speed violations, and other vehicle related illegal activity and automate that law enforcement. These can't even do that part.

120

Phoenix @funwithnix.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

"we've heard you hate flock cameras so what if instead of them being in static locations we put them on a car"

yes I know it's been 6 months since a chapter published again. I'm translating today it'll be ready Soon and then you can wait another 6 months

000

Phoenix @funwithnix.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

this is partly just to cut down on translation work for me yes but it's also to add characterization. Both of them speak their native languages more when they're mad or emotional about something

110

Phoenix @funwithnix.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Something I've tried to do more as I've progressed through writing TWW is have the language flip more often, since Ubê's common/English has improved and Shadowheart's Elvish has similarly gotten more comfortable, so they'll flip back and forth between them for varying reasons

The states that got these, if you're wondering, per Reuters. With very few (I count 4) exceptions, this is just the 2024 electoral map for who voted republican in the presidency and who didn't.

A map of the USA with states highlighted in purple (competitive race with no ACA return check), orange (ACA return check, but no competitive race), or red (ACA return check with competitive race), sourced from Reuters.
