After a collective 28 hours of GPU time, the exosome for MD simulations for our iGEM project is ready. Now to do this exact thing 4 more times for other exosomes.

Working with M13 phages is so much fun because WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE PLAQUES TURN BLUE!?!?

Phage on a (failed) western blot membrane. PS It’s insane how smooth these membranes are, I’d recommend writing on them.

Some non-phage TEM today. It seems like our iGEM team has successfully managed to induce exosomes from HEK cells. Now to engineer its membrane and package our protein in it. #exosomes

~£18,000 raised so far, with IDT and Vazyme sponsoring our reagents; we are making steady progress towards our goal of engineering exosomes that cross the blood brain barrier and deliver Dravet Syndrome therapeutics. #healthcare

Pretty pink single colonies on my pack of soft cheese. I wish my actual plates were so lucky. If anyone know what this might be, please do tell.

Bit late to the party but I presented our work at Microsoc 2026 in Belfast this year. It was great to see so many talks on such diverse topics but of course I was biased towards phages and eukaryotic viruses talks.

Had the opportunity to present my work at Viruses of Microbes UK this year. Had a lot of fruitful discussions regarding the work and phage therapy. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Prague in July!

Look at this beautiful CsCl gradient. I’m lying, my gradient crashed. I lost my phages and I am going home.

Screening some mutant phages and can’t help but feel bad about this guy who: 1. Had his head burst (Red selection is where the head was supposed to be) 2. Tail tube broke in half RIP unnamed phage. You will be missed.

Presented my work in the Science Graduate Showcase at the University of Sheffield. A bit subtle in design compared to my past posters but there’s always tomorrow. #phage

NCBI has the most sassy server I’ve ever come across. What do you mean that the error code is NO_ERROR? Real helpful NCBI.

Spending the last few days at my home and I can never get used to this view. The himalayan range in the background steals the show. Pretty curious about the phage diversity here though.

Back at NISER to catch up with my old lab and friends. One thing that always amazes me is the sand art.

You know you have a big dog when the bandana you got him from UK marked specifically for “large adult dogs” looks like this. Time to bust out the ol’ towel and make a bandana out of it.
