The trump DOJ rejects the idea that the ICC has jurisdiction. We did not sign the Rome Statute. Today's left and center left positions are close to the Eisenhower positions he advocated for when he ran in 1956. Those were mainstream republican policies then. The GOP has moved sharply to the right.

"the Washington Post reported Saturday that the world’s wealthiest individual was almost certainly working in the US without correct authorization for a period in 1995 after he dropped out of Stanford University to work on his debut company, Zip2, which sold for about $300m four years later." DEPORT
Legal experts said foreign students cannot drop out of school to build a company even if they are not getting paid. The Post also noted that – prior to the September 11 terrorist attacks agains the US in 2001 – regulation for student visas was more lax.

“If you do anything that helps to facilitate revenue creation, such as design code or try to make sales in furtherance of revenue creation, then you’re in trouble,” Leon Fresco, a former US justice department immigration litigator, told the outlet.

We did; that's why America prospered in the 50s and 60s even with sky high tax rates for individuals and corporations. Most cars, electronics, textiles and appliances etc were manufactured right here. From madeintheusamatters:
From the postwar years through the 1970s, manufacturing in the United States was not something companies advertised. It was simply how products were made.

Domestic production was the default, supported by physical infrastructure, regional specialization, and a workforce trained to build things at scale

So, the Obama admin was snatching people from hospitals, courthouses, and school bus stops? Yes, they did separate some families, no, they did not do extrajudicial arrests, abductions and deportations that violated due process. Still, what they did was bad. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Approximately 1,500-2,000 children were separated from their parents between 2010 and 2016, according to a 2018 report by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). However, the exact number is difficult to determine due to limited data and record-keeping.In defending its “zero tolerance” border policy that has caused the separation of families, the Trump administration has argued that the Obama and Bush administrations did this too. That’s misleading. Experts say there were some separations under previous administrations, but no blanket policy to prosecute parents and, therefore, separate them from their children.

“Bush and Obama did not have policies that resulted in the mass separation of parents and children like we’re seeing under the current administration,” Sarah Pierce, a policy analyst with the Migration Policy Institute, told us.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said at a June 18 press briefing: “The Obama administration, the Bush administration all separated families. … They did — their rate was less than ours, but they absolutely did do this. This is not new.”

Nielsen went on to explain that there is indeed something new, as we wrote in another article on this topic. Under a “zero tolerance policy” on illegal immigration announced by Attorney General Jeff Sessions in early April, the administration is now referring all illegal border crossings for criminal prosecution. By doing that, parents have been separated from their children, because children can’t be held in detention facilities for adults.

DHS told us that 2,342 children were separated from their parents between May 5 and June 9.

Let me just state that I am against the death penalty in general. But, if we are going to execute people, why make it so difficult. Dr Kevorkian had a method that was foolproof and painless; you just drift off to sleep and never wake up.
oday marks the 25th anniversary of Dr. Jack Kevorkian’s conviction of second-degree murder for performing euthanasia on Thomas Youk, a Michigan man suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Kevorkian, a medical pathologist, had been defying state laws by engaging in assisted suicide—he claimed to help more than 130 people die— often using machines he invented like the Thanatron (which delivered lethal doses of narcotics) and the Mercitron (which delivered carbon monoxide) and instructing patients how to use them to commit suicide. But this was different. Kevorkian was not assisting a suicide. Kevorkian videotaped himself injecting Youk with lethal chemicals. He was doing all the work. And despite having received Youk’s informed consent, the Michigan Court considered it murder.

Even the Reagan era tax cuts would put us on a much better footing. If we reversed the Bush/trump tax cuts, we would permanently reduce the deficit. "Tax Cuts Are Primarily Responsible for the Increasing Debt Ratio" Note: they say IF Congress wants to decrease deficits. Clearly they do not.
A series of massive, permanent tax cuts have created large federal budget primary
shortfalls and continue to exert upward pressure on the debt ratio. In other words,
the current fiscal gap—the growing debt as a percentage of the economy—stems
from legislation that cut taxes, disproportionately for the very rich. While it is true
that the Great Recession and legislation to fight it, along with the costs of respond-
ing to the health and economic effects of COVID-19, pushed the level of debt
higher, these costs were temporary and did not change the trajectory of the debt
ratio. If Congress wants to decrease deficits, it should look first toward reversing
tax cuts that largely benefited the wealthy, which were responsible for the United
States’ current fiscal outlook

A digital forensic tool trusted with sensitive US government contracts was secretly Russian-owned, with its software built in Russia and sold to Russian spy agencies, US prosecutors allege.

Virginia-based Oxygen Forensics sells a software tool, Oxygen Forensics Detective, that's designed to recover, preserve, and analyze data from smartphones, computers, and other digital devices.

Its tools are used by the US Department of War, the US Department of Homeland Security, and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

But according to a newly unsealed criminal complaint, the supposedly American company was controlled by Russian national Oleg Davydov and 4 other Russian citizens – the same group behind a Moscow company whose customers included Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).

The Sherman Antitrust Act is still on the books. They just stopped enforcing it. The excerpts below from Britannica. When I first got phone/internet service in my present location it was with Bellsouth, one of the baby bells, and now gone. It's still my email address 🥸
For more than a decade after its passage, the Sherman Act was invoked only rarely against industrial monopolies, and then not successfully, chiefly because of narrow judicial interpretations of what constitutes trade or commerce among states. Its only effective use was against trade unions, which were held by the courts to be illegal combinations. The first vigorous enforcement of the Sherman Act occurred during the administration of U.S. Pres. Theodore Roosevelt (1901–09). In 1914 Congress passed two legislative measures that provided support for the Sherman Act. One of these was the Clayton Antitrust Act, which elaborated on the general provisions of the Sherman Act and specified many illegal practices that either contributed to or resulted from monopolization. The other measure created the Federal Trade Commission, providing the government with an agency that had the power to investigate possible violations of antitrust legislation and issue orders forbidding unfair competition practices. In 1920, however, the U.S. Supreme Court applied the so-called “rule of reason” interpretation of the Sherman Act, which specifies that not every contract or combination restraining trade is unlawful. Only “unreasonable” restraint of trade through acquisitions, mergers, exclusionary tactics, and predatory pricing constitute a violation of the Sherman Act. This interpretation allowed large firms considerably more latitude. But in a case involving the Aluminum Company of America (1945), the court reversed its stance, declaring that the size and structure of a corporation were sufficient grounds for antitrust action. Since that ruling, the prohibition against monopoly has been periodically enforced, involving in some cases the dismemberment of the offending firm. One notable example late in the 20th century was the 1984 breakup of the American Telephone & Telegraph Company, which left the parent company, AT&T, as a provider of long-distance service while seven regional “Baby Bell” companies provided local telephone service. Many of the original Baby Bell companies subsequently merged.

Even the Heritage Foundation's (the project 2025 people) own research failed to find any fraud that would affect the outcome of elections. It's the BIG LIE that trump has been pushing for years, and the MAGAGOP believes to be true. From the Brennan Center for Justice:
Among the examples in the Heritage document are a case from 1948 (when Harry S. Truman beat Thomas Dewey) and a case from 1972 (when Richard Nixon defeated George McGovern). Only 105 of its 749 cases came from within the past five years.
In reviewing billions of votes cast, the Heritage Foundation identified just 10 cases involving in-person impersonation fraud at the polls (fewer than the number of members on the president’s Commission).
The database includes only 41 cases involving non-citizens registering, voting, or attempting to vote over five decades, highlighting the absurdity of President Trump’s claim that millions of non-citizens voted in the 2016 election alone.
A vast majority of fraud “examples” cited by the Heritage Foundation would not be addressed by the voter suppression laws its staff supports, including “Election Integrity” Commission member Hans von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at Heritage. Von Spakovsky distributed copies of the database at the panel’s first meeting in July.
Many cases highlighted in the database show that existing laws and safeguards are already preventing voter fraud — the ineligible voters or individuals engaging in misconduct were discovered and prevented from casting a ballot.

Through August 31, 2026, the House held floor votes on just 65 days – the fewest through this point in any comparable midterm election year since 1994, according to No Labels’ analysis. The House spent 383 hours in session, the lowest in our midterm-year comparison going back to 1990. And Congress enacted just 34 public bills into law, also the lowest in the comparison since 1990.
The House Has Voted on Just 65 Days

There are 243 days from January 1 through August 31. If you are a full-time employee with a standard five-day workweek, you probably worked around 165 of them, depending on how generous your holiday and PTO policy is.

But the House held floor votes on 65 of those days, just over a quarter of the time.

That’s low, even by Congress’s standards. Washington always slows down during election years as members spend more time at home campaigning. But No Labels pulled the data going all the way back to 1994; 2026 was the fewest voting days in over three decades:

My Rep in the House (FL) went through this in the abortion-averse state I live in. When she was, at first, told her procedure might be illegal under Florida law, and hospital staff could be legally liable under that law. She blamed the whole problem on anti abortion activists. Really.
Republican U.S. Rep. Kat Cammack of Florida says a hospital delayed ending her life-threatening ectopic pregnancy last May because of confusion over the state's new abortion law.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Cammack, who was five weeks into her pregnancy at the time, blamed the confusion by emergency room doctors on "fearmongering" by pro-abortion activists surrounding Florida's restrictions on the procedure after six weeks.

After determining the baby's heartbeat had stopped and her life was at risk, doctors decided she required either surgery or a shot of methotrexate to help expel her ectopic pregnancy.

Israel and the Iran-Contra Scandal: How Neocons Messed Up the Mideast

26/9/2019

Special Report: Newly available documents reveal how Ronald Reagan’s neocon aides cleared the way for Israeli arm sales to Iran in 1981, shortly after Iran freed 52 U.S. hostages whose captivity doomed Jimmy Carter’s reelection. The move also planted the seeds of the Iran-Contra scandal.

Just six months after Iran freed 52 Americans hostages in 1981, senior Reagan administration officials secretly endorsed third-party weapons sales to Iran, a move to align U.S. policy with Israeli desires to sell arms to the Islamic republic then at war with Iraq, according to documents recently released by the National Archives.

This Israeli arms pipeline to Iran already was functioning at the time of the policy shift on July 21, 1981. Three days earlier, on July 18, an Argentine plane strayed off course and crashed (or was shot down) inside the Soviet Union exposing Israel’s secret arms shipments to Iran, which apparently had been going on for months.

After the plane went down, Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East Nicholas Veliotes tried to get to the bottom of the mysterious weapons flight. “According to the [flight] documents,” Veliotes said later in an interview with PBS Frontline, “this was chartered by Israel and it was carrying American military equipment to Iran. …

We know Desantis is against woke. But this new bill wants to keep H.S. teenagers awake for unlimited hours for unlimited days at their jobs. Without breaks. During the school year. Worker bees for Florida businesses.
In the 2025 session, the Legislature has filed SB 918 and HB 1225, “Employment of Minors.” The proposed rollbacks to child labor laws would pose an even greater risk to the health and well-being of Florida youth than those contained in the original version of HB 49. (See Table 1.)

If passed, SB 918 would allow employers during the school year to:

Schedule any 16- and 17-year-old Floridian for unlimited hours and days without breaks.
Schedule 14- and 15-year-old Floridians who have graduated high school or are home- or virtual-school students for unlimited hours and days without breaks.

Similarly, HB 1225 would allow employers during the school year to:[1]

Schedule any 16- and 17-year-old Floridian for unlimited days without breaks.
Schedule 14- and 15-year-old Floridians who have graduated high school or are home- or virtual-school students for unlimited hours and days without breaks.

He's sick, demented, and pure evil. The MAGAGOP is a death cult! Even before he became 'president', trump was puzzled about why we don't use nuclear weapons.
“Several months ago, a foreign policy expert on the international level went to advise Donald Trump. And three times [Trump] asked about the use of nuclear weapons. Three times. He asked at one point if we have them, why can’t we use them,” Scarborough said on Wednesday’s edition of “Morning Joe.”

I searched fox 'news' for their coverage of this story. NADA. They did have a story from Feb declaring (falsely) that Desantis had been exonerated. Why did I write 'falsely'? Because it wasn't confirmed. "The Justice Department has not publicly confirmed the complaint has been dropped." LIARS!
A Florida grand jury found that Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration “misappropriated” $10 million in taxpayer money it diverted to a charity connected to his wife, but it declined to file criminal charges due to a lack of evidence indicating who specifically was responsible.

Performance art for those who think having ZERO trans players in the WNBA, is a big issue that demands attention. It's culture war bullshit. Fun fact: in all of NCAA women's sports, there are 500k+ athletes & 11 identify as trans. That's a huge fucking problem, right? Banned in 18 states. 🙄
Update: President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Feb. 5 that called on the Department of Education to "take all appropriate action" to ensure that only athletes assigned female at birth can compete in women's sports. It also called on the department to use Title IX enforcement actions against institutions that don't comply with the executive order.

The next day, the NCAA updated its participation policy for transgender student-athletes to comply with the order.

The facts are they have used multiple methods to block democratic votes. Redistricting (gerrymandering), voter roll purges, blocking vote by mail, and, of course, Elon and trump admitting they rigged it! There;s an article floating around about how that was accomplished.
"He knows those computers better than anybody. All those computers, those vote-counting computers, and we ended up winning Pennsylvania like in a landslide. So, it was pretty good, it was pretty good. So, thank you to Elon.”The concerns became more prominent following reports of voting irregularities during and after the election. In Rockland County, New York, voters testified that ballots they cast did not align with the final tallies. Independent Senate candidate Diane Sare reported discrepancies across multiple precincts where supporters claimed to have voted for her but the official vote count did not reflect those numbers.

While these claims remain under investigation, they have fueled a broader debate over whether the lack of oversight in voting technology could have affected down-ballot results—and potentially even the presidential contest itself.
Statistical Red Flags

Election analysts have pointed to statistical anomalies that emerged in Democratic-leaning areas. In several precincts, reports suggest Kamala Harris’s name may have been missing from the top of the ballot, while other Democratic candidates received strong support. Some districts reportedly recorded zero votes for Harris, despite voter turnout favoring Democrats in other races.

In contrast, Donald Trump’s vote totals reportedly exceeded those of Republican Senate candidates by hundreds of thousands of votes in certain counties. Experts have noted that such a discrepancy is highly unusual, as presidential and Senate candidates typically perform within similar margins, particularly in partisan strongholds.

Former Florida AG Moody, now temporarily appointed to the Senate by Desantis, and current AG Uthmeier, who was Desantis's chief of staff at the time, are both up for reelection, and both knew of the plan to divert the money. LOCK THEM UP, and vote them OUT! From AP:
The grand jury report concluded that James Uthmeier, who was DeSantis’ chief of staff at the time, “was in a position of authority over those involved in settling,” and that his Keep Florida Clean PAC was the prime recipient of the $10 million. The grand jury said then-state Attorney General Ashley Moody’s office knew of the plans to divert the money. She was later appointed by DeSantis to the U.S. Senate.
