Shout-out to the @internetarchive for enabling me to find proof for this piece that my hometown of #Pittsburgh was the top-ranked city in the 1985 Places Rated Almanac. archive.org/details/placesratedalma…

Relevant text from book excerpt:

AND THE WINNER IS … Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which ranked fourth in the first edition of Places Rated Almanac, has climbed to the top of the list in this second edition. Many people who perhaps have a stereotyped and outdated image of a smoky, noisy, blast furnace of a city may be surprised at this. But Pittsburgh shows great strength in the social indicators and is remarkably like a small town in many respects, despite its great size.

Really embarrassing when folks using #AI bots to write clearly don't even look at the output. Which is longer than the added content itself, in the case of this #Wikipedia edit.

It's weird and annoying getting misgendered as female after over 12 years on T, with my (intentional) beard stubble and obvious male pattern baldness. Since I don't bind my breasts, I'm wondering if some people think that I'm a trans woman and are trying to be polite? (1/x)

Sharing a review/comment I just wrote for a #DuckDuckGo add-on for #Firefox (macOS), in case anyone has insights. The site referred to is @404mediaco. addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ad…

Review by Pax Ahimsa Gethen

I didn't even realize I had this extension until I was troubleshooting not being able to see the comments section on a site I frequent, a problem that just started a couple weeks ago. When I disabled the extension, I could see the comments section again, but a lot of ads started appearing on other sites I visit that apparently had been hidden by this extension.

I tried to explain this to someone at the site with the comments section, but they weren't very helpful. So for now I'm just toggling the extension off for that site and then back on again for other sites. I wish there were a way to turn this extension off per-site as there is with Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection.
