An unfinished SMW town recreation from August 23 that was intended to replicate rural areas at the time in a platformer with notable locations to obtain coins from, later on that idea branched over to Mirrored Eggs (2025) which also never saw the light of day due to strict deadlines unfortunately.

Been a refreshing weekend last week to just walk out again after one month's worth of recovery, visiting several familiar & city locations in nearby territory and getting ahold of SMW chocolate just in time for the next treating season:
SMW Chocolate: Three individual milk chocolate packages that are intended to spell out "SMW", as in Super Mario World for next treating season.

Microsoft Links LS 2000, an early desktop golf course simulation I've managed to obtain locally and play with a bit back in the day, including a rendition of Old Course:

Previously shown as a screenshot in C3 to celebrate 8 years of design work on SMWC, continuing the series of documents that are way too short to be included in a standalone video and/or release.

Salsa City overworld footage from my unreleased OWDC 2023 entry, a year where the overworlds had to be strictly built using vanilla SMW tiles:

There have been a series of new SNES trackers & workstations being worked upon as of recently, some being a helpful interface to a familar tool while others have their own proprietary toolkits and websites of mixed quality/usability as the hardware playback hasn't been emulated properly at the time.

I have been aware of the first Super Mario Maker for some time now as of early 2017, tho neither my DS nor the family Wii console have survived long enough to be able to play & design new levels personally up until the new Switch edition came out two years later.

The top 9 favorite games that have shaped my personal life, going back to the DS era where I've first started playing with friends and neighbours alike:
My 9 Games: Minecraft: Java Edition (PC), Super Mario Maker 2 (Switch), New Super Mario Bros. (DS), Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS, Advance: Wars Dual Strike (DS), Metroid Prime Hunters (DS), Impossible Mission (DS), Construction Simulator 2015 (PC/Steam).

Valora Valley Golf's BGM1 volcanic course theme ported and rendered to SPC700, with all the sequenced tunes now being available in the SMW Music section:

Mario no Super Picross is now getting it's own MIDI converter as part of konvertMID, supporting chorded notes and voice controller events as in the original:

Dekremit, a decremental puzzle game across different grid sizes, timers and conditional quests I've helped designing with courtesy of GKF Lounge who developed the new underlying cursor grid engine and toolkit in this SNES homebrew: gerokonberg.itch.io/dekremit

After years of going virtually unused in the basement, I'm finally able to use this old Yamaha YPT-240 keyboard as a digital instrument source for liveplay & sequencing as desired within this new cable setup, more to be heard soon:

Today marks the 30th anniversary of Pebble Beach no Hatou New: Tournament Edition, the last T&E Soft golfing title to be released on the Super Famicom and has quite the processing and varied soundtrack (up to 5 course themes!) that is still worth listening today: www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

If a complete rendition ever comes to light in due time, those functions are considered and may be relevant for the new 50-100 grids unlockable in Sinus & Timer modes.

An early version of the tileset used in Sinus Plusminus (2023) has been recovered, including multiplication & comparison tiles which never ended up being implemented anywhere in the final entry due to missing ASM routines at the time of creation:

Excited to know they are still printing those sizable puzzlers a decade later today: for the longest time since 3rd grade I've been solving the upper book for at least a couple years, eventually writing new word puzzles on paper to myself and nearby friends up until 2020 hit it's course.

In anticipation to the upcoming winter events: I've just got ahold of two new puzzle books of local variety, including a discount at the other northern suburb with one of the few prints to feature actual nonograms and new methods of solving familiar logical puzzles.

Besides the usual puzzle books, one of the first concepts that could greatly benefit from this mechanic to be ported over as is: Sinus Plusminus (2023), around 96-100 screens of passable +/- math tiles which under it's original faux-platform controls took quite the momentum to control than needed.

Some weekly progress on titles I've been designing over at GKF lounge recently, a tactical number puzzle with an early preview of an internal grid-locked cursor engine that'll become more essential in future level designs and onward:
Puzzle mode of an upcoming SNES homebrew, defusing the 8 would validate a column of 7s which in turn the upper 4 falls down in a row and thus clears out three columns in one turn.

Now that's a flash back from the past, the version I've played then came with a level editor and had quite the configurable simple UI aesthetics similar to old Windows variants.

Having grown up with the Nintendo DS, thanks to card sharing from our neighbours I was able to keep discover & learn so many games beyond the Brain Age & Mario series until it died somewhere around 2014, still own the physical card of an unforgettable era today in digital form.

Since there's been an interesting conversion going on at Summer C3: I'll gonna take an indefinite break from site resources in order to finally take custom ASM seriously (after 2 years of science/tech) and get some basic, reusable puzzle engine done for Onepage Placers 2 & more in the near future.

Just as I thought the contest peaked, Katun is so close of getting a functional SMW sequencer to edit/insert music outside of text files which is just unheard of this Summer C3: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXbz...

Cover10, the second-placing tracker module in the above compo is a classic I've initially heard from Magniot's 8-bit buttons app back on my 2015 tablet which unfortunately ran past battery life as of yesterday. I've just backed up most data including all the remaining module files for listening.

SFC8 trivia: Here's some of the physical hardware I ended up using for covers & original sample sources: an outdated computer rack from early 2000s with original CD copies of 3D TippTrainer (Touch Typing NoW!), OeTTINGER Bierspiel and Puzzle Master 2 SE which can still be played back a decade later.
